Publisher's summary

The razor-sharp first novel in the New York Times bestselling Night Angel series from master of modern fantasy Brent Weeks - an astonishing and epic tale of magic, violence and revenge.

The perfect killer has no friends. Only targets.

For Durzo Blint, assassination is an art. And he is the city's most accomplished artist, his talents required from alleyway to courtly boudoir. For Azoth, survival is precarious. Something you never

take for granted. As a guild rat, he's grown up in the slums, and learned the hard way to judge people quickly - and to take risks. Risks like apprenticing himself to Durzo Blint.

But to be accepted, Azoth must turn his back on his old life and embrace a new identity and name. As Kylar Stern, he must learn to navigate the assassins' world of dangerous politics and strange magics - and cultivate a flair for death.

Faithful Rendition

Revisiting this series now that the new book of the new series is out so I thought I'd listen instead of read it. This is a phenomenal reading performance for a phenomenal book. I look forward to listening to the whole series.

So glad I found this

Having never heard of the author or the series before I took a chance when I heard this book described as “dark fantasy”. I have recently felt that modern fantasy is just rehashing old tropes and themes as was getting despondent with the genre as a whole, and then this. For me, a fresh take on the coming of age story, a unique use of magic and those who wield it and truly dark and compelling story arc is what The Way of Shadows delivered. Exceptionally planned and brilliantly executed, Brent Weeks took me on a journey I never expected to enjoy so much, I was practically yelling at the app towards the end. Highly recommend this book and now for the next one.

One of the best stories i have read

I simply love this book, this story shows what you can achieve with creative use of storytelling. I also love how the author is using colors in this and black prism saga
