To save their pet shop, Shell and her two furry sidekicks must cat-ch a killer

Crishell "Shell" McMillan sees the cancellation of her TV series as a blessing in disguise. The former actress can now take over her late aunt's pet shop, the Purr N Bark, and do something she loves.

While getting the shop ready for re-opening, Shell is asked to loan her aunt's Cary Grant posters to the local museum for an exhibit. She finds the prospect exciting - until a museum board member, who had a longstanding feud with Shell's aunt, votes against it. When she discovers the board member dead in the museum, Shell becomes suspect number one. Can she, her Siamese cat Kahlua, and her new sidekick - her aunt's Persian Purrday - find the real culprit, or will her latest career go up in kitty litter?

Excellent start to a new series

T.C. LoTempio has crafted another great story to begin a new series. The characters are instantly familiar and feel like family. I’m waiting for the follow-up and hoping it’s as good. C.S.E. Cooney, as always, gave a stellar performance. I highly recommend this to fans of cozy mysteries as well as cat lovers.

Good

Good start to the series though Schell had a pretty TSTL moment at the end. After pretty much making smart decisions most of the book to have her do that at the end really bites. Overall the characters are fun, the story is well paced and there’s no love triangle (yayy)

Talk about over the top!

Someone needs to ask the narrator to tone down the theatrics! She speaks in italics and every single sentence is coached as if it were the opening line in Off Broadway. She has a pleasant voice and good reading (or memorizing) skill so with a little down play, she could be one of the best. But her dramatics hurt the author here! (Sometimes I wonder if the narrator accepts the responsibility that they get passed with a new, pristine book?) C. S. E. Cooney hurt the book by being so irritating at times, I started picking at the book. But remembering that authors don’t have any control over the narrator selection, I felt badly about what I was doing. In spite of this unfair response I rated the book lower than I normally would. Just couldn’t shake it.......

Don't Bother

I have read other books by T. C. LoTempio and really enjoyed them. This one was a complete waste of time. The mystery was far-fetched unrealistic. I can't believe anyone would be so unhappy that their late relative's memorabilia would not be used in a museum exhibition that they would complain to just about everyone she sees. Crishell's character is unconvincing and annoying. The other characters are also flat and predictable. The narrator doesn't help. She over dramatizes her narration adding extra drama when it's not necessary. I couldn't finish this book and returned it.
