Great story and narrator

If you are looking for historical fiction based on facts this is the one for you. There is no romance to distract from the story ( thank God) like so many others I’ve listened to.
The narrator’s warm tone made it all the better

I have read all I can about Irena and the orphans and their care givers. God have mercy. May we not forget. May we stand boldly for our children in 2022.

Good story, but the narrator almost sounds like he’s whispering

The story is good, but it almost seems like the narrator is trying to keep the story quiet

Love Above All

All the stories we have of the atrocities perpetrated on Jewish people of all ages seems so hard to believe … but so undeniably true. This novel was based on the life and work of a well-known doctor and teacher who established an orphanage for Jewish children in the Polish ghetto. The extermination of so many people including thousands of children makes me quite frightened of the darkness we are capable if.

Immediately swept up into the story

Narrator, Zach Hoffman, is excellent. This story although fictional is based on real characters, true events, and a diary from WW2. It is in turns eye-opening, moving me to tears, encouraging, and more.

I’m ready to learn more about the inspirational main character, Dr. Janusz Korczak.

Teacher of love during an unthinkable time

The atrocities and wickedness that others did to the Jews is horrible! Great book! Well written and well performed!

Excellent Book, mediocre narrator

Loved the Story, great characters. The narrator had some strange intonation and pronunciation, which I found distracting.

Amazing book

I hold a history degree and pride myself on the work I have done with trying to study WWII. Not just the aspect of the winning side, but also the German and the oppressed. This book is well written and even thought it is a fiction. It opens many question to me that I have not yet asked.

Such a great book

I have to admit I struggled for a bit getting into this book but once I did I couldn’t stop listening!

Fantastic, Inspiring, and Harrowing Story

This novel is excellent. The characters and stories are beautiful and inspiring, and the goodness and humility of Janusz Korczak makes me more grateful for what I have and compels me to become better. I wholeheartedly recommend this book.
