Publisher's summary

“Sacrifices must be made; battles will be lost. It is always this way in a quest for change.”

In the near future, Earth’s oil reserves are depleted. Nations grapple to find an alternative energy source. Terrorists race for control over world resources. And the Syndicate—a conglomerate of allied intelligence agencies—struggles to maintain peace.

Syndicate operative Juliet Arroway and her best friend, Mariam, a progressive Saudi princess, are tasked with hunting down terrorists and putting an end to the global energy war, the same mission that cost Juliet’s father his life. But when multiple terrorist attacks result in devastating losses, including the death of Juliet’s longtime boyfriend, and the Syndicate begins to suspect that Mariam’s family is somehow involved, Juliet must rise above her heartbreak to discover the truth.

In her quest, Juliet is paired with Graham—a dashing yet arrogant FBI agent—and embarks on a dangerous journey toward love and survival as they race to obtain the formula that could solve the energy crisis. But when peace demands a stunning betrayal, Juliet must decide how much she is willing to pay for the success of her mission. Brilliantly weaving fact and fiction, Butler tells a story seldom told—how female heroics can change the course of war.

Looking forward to the next book

Enjoyed the book. For a first novel I was quite impressed. For book two, sequel or prequel? A prequel would be great to get a better understanding of the characters. Regardless I’m looking forward to book two!

Fast paced & intense!

I have followed Brittany Butler on social media and couldn’t wait until I had a chance to listen to her audiobook. I downloaded it the minute it came out. This was the first espionage book I’ve read and I was not disappointed. Extremely fast paced I listened to several hours at a time. I was able to vividly imagine everything in my head as if I was watching a movie. It would be great to have this book turn into a movie or series! I noticed how attached I became of the characters Juliette and Graham and how anxious, upset then relieved I would get. I can’t wait for Brittany to come out with her next novel she truly as a gift!

When is the next book out?

I started the audio book 2 days ago, only listening to it while doing yard work & gardening over memorial weekend. I found the author on Instagram & wanted to support her. The suspense- will they get caught? Who is on their side? Will romance develop? Well- my lawn was manicured with in an inch of its life in 2 days! I need more! Please keep the series going ❤️

Knowledgeable author, predictable ending

The book is made better because the author understands the sources and methods, the tools and languages of the trade. This is a great start to her writing career which follows the template of most drama novel. Predictability isn’t bad necessarily, it helps keep the nerve down as you read this action-filled book. My only feedback is the description of the love for one another between Graham and Juliet became a bit repetitive, and does not need to be reinforced every time his name is brought up.

should have been short story.

knew the ending by the 3rd chapter. Characters unbelievable, especially Juliet who I would strangle if I could in real life.

Left Liberal agenda and more about characters feeling and less about main plot.

Never again this writer's book.
Disappointed with plot, too long about religion and gender emphasis.
