Publisher's summary

Bloomsbury presents The Sexual Politics of Meat - 25th Anniversary Edition by Carol J. Adams, read by Tosca Hopkins.

The Sexual Politics of Meat is Carol Adams’ inspiring and controversial exploration of the interplay between contemporary society’s ingrained cultural misogyny and its obsession with meat and masculinity. First published in 1990, the book has continued to change the lives of tens of thousands of people into the second decade of the 21st century.

Published in the year of the book's 25th anniversary, the Bloomsbury Revelations edition includes a substantial new afterword, with discussions of recent events that prove beyond doubt the continuing relevance of Adams' revolutionary book.

An incredible collection of thoughts

A brilliant collection of mind opening and life changing ideas, well articulated and digestible, even if challenging and alarming. Listen to this with an open mind and your life will never be the same.

Well researched and explicated theory.

I finished this book quickly. I didn't know what to expect when I started, but it was really enjoyable. I like how the book was structured. Each idea flowed into the next. very easy to understand the author's perspective.

Eye Opening

This book made me want to become a vegan. I will be working my way there this summer. This book has opened my eyes so that I see the sexual politics of meat everywhere. I saw it in New Girl when Nick Miller and Schmitt start talking about meat to reclaim their masculinity after having a very deep conversation. I saw it in But I’m a Cheerleader when Megan is suspected of being a lesbian by her parents because of her vegetarianism. I hope to make more connections in the future and add to the ever growing vault of examples proving Carol J Adam’s theory. This is a must-read for feminists everywhere.
