Publisher's summary

Baldwin, the Viscount of Mountgarret, was content with his life. Unexpectedly, his childhood friend dies, leaving him his most prized treasures: his two young daughters. Baldwin’s priorities begin to shift as he arrives home and meets his wards’ infuriatingly stubborn governess. His interest is piqued by the mystery surrounding her, but she’s only a governess. He certainly can’t pursue her. Can he?

After three “unsuccessful” Seasons, Emeline Warren discovers a heinous plot to force her into marriage with an aging earl. She flees from her ancestral home and unwittingly becomes a governess to two little girls. Finding herself attracted to their reluctant guardian, she’s determined not to fall prey to his charms. Can two unlikely lovers let go of their foolish pride, or will they lose what matters most?

Traditional style Regency with Robotic voice

I was curious about Virtual Voice snd chose this story to listen. Reading is Clear but uninflected so you have to pay attention as there is No difference between characters. Not pleasing to listen in that the voice misses Emotional moments, runs dialogue together, is monotone, etc. the best that can be said is that you can hear the words clearly. Story is typical of traditional Regency - no heat.

The animatronic voice

I didn’t finish this book because the artificial narrating voice was so cold and expressionless. I se that disclaimer on several books lately, so I hope some of the voices are more human than this one.

Not a Fan of Virtual Voice

This was a good story, however, it was distracting to listen to the virtual voice. I don't think a computer can be trained for all the nuances a real person can express.

Not a fan of the AI narration

The robotic, monotone narration detracted from the story. I really did not like it at all.

Virtual voice ruined this book for me

The story was fine, but the lack of nuance and expression in the virtual voice really stood out and was very off putting. I will likely never buy another book using virtual voice.
