Publisher's summary

A deeper look at an old-fashioned quality. We've all heard the phrase, "Patience is a virtue", and doubtless responded with a sigh, as usually it's spoken with a tone of reproach. But this virtue carries with it a wealth of wisdom that can actually help us find happiness in our day to day. Author Mary Jane Ryan details just what living with patience can bring to our lives and how it can change us for the better.

Slow the rush. Things move at a quick pace in our society, in both our work lives and social lives. Not only are we forced to keep up, but we have been conditioned to expect instant gratification. Because of this, we find ourselves getting flustered by the smallest setbacks or hold ups-whether it's a slow server at a restaurant or rush-hour traffic. Ryan shares how patience is the very antidote to the stress that our fast-paced lifestyle results in.

Reclaim our priorities. By reining in our aggravation when things don't happen instantaneously, we give ourselves time to breathe and think more clearly. We make better use of our days and allow ourselves to make decisions based on how they align with our priorities, instead of focusing on how fast we can get tasks done. With Ryan's help, we can learn to foster a patient outlook and find joy and fulfillment in the present moment.

Learned a lot of new tips!

I recommend this to all the perfectionists, lot of items may resonate well with you. The power of books are, it gets to your mind in a neutral and personal way, rather than debating with another adviser/friend.

For me, what I liked the most was, lot of things were new and compared to other audible books, I had lot of interest to this topic, which made me stick and listen fully in short period time during commutes and gym workouts.

The tips and notes I took will make a quick impact on my daily overall, family and work life.

It touches through, situations which we’re all familiar with our daily life. Also, I could compliment this to the ‘Atomic habits’ book.

Narrator voice is annoying

Authors should read their own books. This sounded like a robot. The content and concepts where good but it took a pot of patience to get through.

Lots of anecdotes, not terribly helpful

Perhaps ironic that a book on patience would be so tedious. I think if the title attracts, the reader already knows he/she has room to improve. Nearly the first 30% are excessive anecdotes on the benefits to improve without tips on how. I skipped ahead to a chapter title that would give me what I was seeking, and when the author did start to provide practical advice, even that was filled with more anecdotes. I’d hardly call this well researched or useful.
