Amazing!

This Omnibus is an amazing buy, the series is so good and I want more, I need more!

Amazing Narration

I absolutely loved the narration and the characters but I have to admit that I didn’t really understand the ending… I will have to try and read the actual books and hope that maybe I just missed something! But I highly recommend this omnibus.

Great grimdark value

The Obsidian Path trilogy in the omnibus is really great value for just one credit. The story is a really enjoyable wild ride from start to finish with memorable characters, vivid world building all told by a good narrator. If you haven’t read Michael R Fletchers books, you are missing out.

Kind of flat and anticlimactic

I've listened to books one through three and this story is mostly flat. The beginning has some allure in that the protagonist climbs out of his grave with an innate ability to absorb all life around him for nourishment.

After his resurrection, his hunger for something other than food is compelling but the journey from there isn't packed with breath taking accomplishments and feets. He has minor advancement in terms of strength.

He learns about the power he can wield but the way the author delivers it as borrowed power versus inherent power makes it fall far from awe inspiring.

His constant disgust with his choices and his decision to follow them anyway is a good rendition of the human condition but unfulfilling in this character. The internal conflict doesn't elevate the story because he wants to change, the reader wants him to change, but the author does not.

Ultimately the ending leaves more frustration than questions and interest. When it's finished, you're happy it over. Not because you're satisfied but because it's now out of the way and you can read something that's more enticing.

Story isn’t consistent

Main character seems to forget what he states as fact to conveniently align the next book. Overall it’s entertaining, if your not paying too much attention.

Amazing story

This is my first book by this author and this narrator. The story is so well written and complex that I had to know what would happen next and spent every spare moment being entertained by the story and trying to determine friend from foe. The narrator did an impressive job voicing each character and the spirit of the book. This is easily one of my most highly recommended reads.

Anti-hero, grimdark fantasy

This is an anti-hero, grimdark fantasy told in an immersive world. I hadn't read grimdark fantasy before this book, and it was a pleasant (but grimdark) surprise (The closest I've read is horror). To give an idea, there are demons, necromancy, wizards, murder, but also some humor in amongst it. The narrator did a fantastic job of keeping me hooked and immersed in the happenings of the story. I enjoyed this series quite a lot and was happy to have this omnibus edition.

Decent for Indie

Plot and Setting was interesting and somewhat novel. characterization, dialogue, and conflict was less compelling. Fun brain candy to cleanse the pallet and if you want a different non-commercially market driven written book. It hits all the grimdark buttons.

Not sure where to start

I’ve been looking at these to books to listen being that I love grimdark books. This one thought just didn’t hit the way grimdark is suppose to. The Mc is a whiny punk that questions everything he does after he meets a woman it’s like his entire outlook in life changed for the worst and the dude was super weak throughout the ENTIRE book. He promises everyone he likes to keep the safe, but in the next chapter he’s getting beat to nar death by a human with no powers and after fighting and losing to that HUMAN he has it in his mind that he can take on a Mag, and guess what he lost. I was so disappointed in this book just super repetitive the author has to remind you in ever chapter that he’s trying to change and the author just kept him stupid for what reason I’m not sure. Plz save yourself a credit and skip this entire series.
