Inspired by the brave women of WWII, this is a moving and powerful novel of friendship, love and resilience for fans of My Name is Eva, The Alice Network and The Tattooist of Auschwitz.

A story of love not a story of a war....

A daring WWII pilot who grew up among the clouds, Juliet Caron’s life was one of courage, adventure – and a love torn apart by war. Every nook of her Cornish cottage is alive with memories just waiting to be discovered. Katherine Henderson has escaped to Cornwall for Christmas, but she soon finds there is more to her holiday cottage than meets the eye. And on the eve of Juliet’s 100th birthday, Katherine is enlisted to make an old lady’s final Christmas wish come true....

Amazing WWII Historical Novel

What a bittersweet book taking place in Angels Cove, Cornwall. This is a historical fiction book unusually placed in three time lines. You have Juliet, Katherine and Juliets journals. The plot is so well developed with believable and interesting, likable characters. The carefully going back and forth made this book more relevant. I usually don't like bouncing back and forth in timelines but it was needed to get the feel and write this book. This book is great.you have Juliet and her amazing story is told from her point of view about the women who flew the ATA during WWII. Thewomen who could fly were trained to fly the airplanes the Britist flew as there were not enough men to do this. Katherine gets a letter from Uncle Gerald with an invite to Angel Cove. The first night she found the journal and begins to read Juliets beautiful story of love, loss, friendship and hardship. Then later to realize Juliet is still alive. This is a must listen to book with the narration done by Stephanie Beattie. Stephanie with the British accent draws you in and maintains your interest. I highly recommend this book.

Truly Inspirational

I cried many tears of happiness and sadness reading this book. I was immediately drawn into the characters and couldn't stop listening. The accentif the Reader was spot on, and really made me feel like I was in the story. My most favorite was:
The most beautiful woman in the room is the one with the most joy in her heart, not the fewest wrinkles on her face... wrinkles are beautiful badges of honor, they represent all the fun, laughter and tears in your life. Iron our the lines and you iron out your life, and that is something I would never do.

A surprise

One of my friends told me to read this book as I was concerned about one more WWll book. But, I was delightfully surprised and enjoyed the characters and their stories. I would highly recommend.

Slow Start - Amazing Story

Took me awhile to get use to the narrator's cadence and also to get invested in the characters. Just a bit too much time spent on why she went to Angel's/Angels/Angels' Cove. But then the story "took off and I never wanted it to land". Worth your time.

Something for all.

This is a beautifully written, superbly narrated story for anyone who wishes to feel when reading. Though one part of the plot, no spoilers, is a little unbelievable one can easily forgive. This story is a great reminder of the sacrifices of so many in the Second World War without being overly sentimental. Indeed this story made me laugh out loud. All of the characters are wonderfully portrayed. Indeed I want to move to Cornwall immediately! The back and forth in time that some reviewers complain about I thought were wonderfully woven and only enhanced the message that love, no matter who you are, how old you may be, or the life that you have led is really our greatest gift. I would highly recommend this book.

Intolerable

I’ve listened to many books some were difficult to listen to but this is probably one of the worst. It is so extremely boring. I tried to listen to it and I got through the first five or six chapters I think. But I’m done with it.

Overall...a wonderful story

Got a little distracted by the going back & forth between WWII times & present day...especially toward the end. but, all in all I enjoyed it tremendously. A great story of women pilots & their contributions!

A beautiful, soaring story

This author knows how to pull at the heart strings! Life is a many splendored thing - in all of its triumphs and tragedies. Let this story take you away on its wings. You’ll fall in love with the characters and laugh and cry with them. Beautifully done.

The only criticism I have is with the narrator. Her “Texas” accent is more Tennessee-Dolly Parton thank a Yellow Rose. American southerners do not have the same accent. That is like portraying all British characters with the same accent!

Beautiful Story

I am a true lover of historical fiction and this is one of the best books I've read in this genre. I don't remember the last time a book moved me so much. I laughed, I cried. I didn't want it to be over.
