Can she find a killer...before he finds her?

When Kade Logan said good-bye to his estranged wife eight years ago, he never thought it would be the last time he saw her alive. Now her car has been hauled out of a nearby lake and Kade is determined to track down the man who murdered her. Enter Eleanor Bowman, a talented private investigator who’s about to stir up a hornet’s nest on his Colorado ranch.

With old scandals still buzzing about his late wife’s many affairs and new violence erupting, Kade is faced with the discovery of another beautiful woman’s body. Are the two killings linked? Who is the man who seduced, then murdered both victims? Ellie believes they are dangerously close to the truth.

From corporate Denver high-rises to posh Vail mansions, Kade and Ellie sense the killer is closing in again, and this time Ellie is the target. Kade must risk everything to save the woman he’s coming to love - before she becomes the next one to die....

What a Happy Accident

I was looking for something else when this cover caught my eye-
when I learned the Author was from my community, and I had an opening for an Author, I purchased the audio.
So, this isn’t an actual review, but I enjoyed the setting, the trouble it took Kade and Ellie to get together, and the expected happy ending. I’ll pick out another book, for sure.

I’ve read just one, so I don’t feel qualified to review a series, but I want more❤️.

I think the highest compliment I can give is that I generally read Brad Taylor, Don Bentley, books from the Tom Clancy Empire... And now you’ve got me wanting farms and romance😎😎😎W/the requisite PI tossed in. Well done.

not what I expected

The narrator has a nice voice but his performance had lots of stilting sentences sentences with inappropriate breath breath breaks . The story spent way too much time on sex which was distracting from the story

love long timecoming

best book I've listened in a while. Good story, good narrator, no trashy language, hard to put down.

basic, predictable, love story

overall this was an okay book, not worth a reread. very simple plot easy to follow, sort of fun characters. Ellie seemed like a really poor detective, she really didn't do any of the work herself relying on other people to actually put the pieces together. She would have been a much stronger character had she actually done some detective work. it also bothers me when romantic interests quickly leave each other and then quickly rejoin apologize and live happily ever after. definitely a basic love story. apologize for grammatical errors I'm using talk to text

Could have been better..

Good storyline but could have been much better without the corny and unrealistic romantic descriptions. I felt sorry for the narrator.

Good

I enjoyed listening to James McAdams (first time). I had to speed it up though 😃. The story was interesting and I was surprised that I got the "bad" person wrong. It's worth a credit
Enjoy ☺️.

Good Story

narrator was very mundane, needed more emphasis but it was a pretty good story line.

Cringeworthy, embarrassing, trite

I picked this book up because it was in Mystery/Thrillers, which is definitely my genre, Give me a good serial killer mystery any day of the week and I'm there. I also like books in a series, I typically listen to every one, in order. I did listen to the sample because I've learned that the narration means a lot. For some reason, books that have an English accent are mostly boring. But this. Yikes. This should have been in Harlequin Romances. Talk about trite, formulaic writing. The hero doesn't simply walk into the room, he STRIDES. Every goddamn time. (Honestly, I almost wanted to start counting.) His glance to his feminine counterpart causes her nipples to "peak into rock hard nubs". She knocks on his bedroom door in nothing but a robe, and when he abruptly opens the door, she stumbles into his arms and her robe flies open. What the hell was she doing, leaning against the door? Ridiculous. If anything she would jump back.
I looked up the author, because I was sure this was a man's writing. No woman would ever get the sex scenes SO WRONG. But Qu'elle Surprise! it was a woman. A 74 YEAR OLD WOMAN WHO HAS BEEN WRITING THESE BOOKS FOR YEARS. Now I'm sure she's a zillionaire with her formulaic plots, but ugh.
I'm a jeweler and I typically work in my studio alone. At the moment however, I have my daughter working for me. I actually went out to buy earbuds so I could listen without us being mortified and I am no prude. But honestly I can't finish this drivel.
I don't typically leave reviews unless it's really good or really bad. You can probably get the idea of where this one falls.
