Publisher's summary

A series of threatening letters, a forgotten figure from the past, and a killer out to settle scores…

England 1928. Mystery writer Marius Quin receives alarming news from his sleuthing partner Lady Bella Montague that their childhood friends are in danger. Back in their charming village of Hurtwood, the three Heaton cousins have all been sent identical death threats. When the local constable refuses to help, it’s up to Marius and Bella to stop the would-be killer. But they arrive too late, and Marius finds his former best friend dead in his kitchen with a knife through the heart…

Who in this tightly knit community wants to eliminate the Heaton family? Between shady business practices, fierce competition over the village’s best garden award, and the tragic tale of a soldier who never returned from the war, it’s more a case of who doesn’t? With the clock ticking, can Bella and Marius figure out the mystery before the two remaining cousins meet their fate?

A captivating and warm-hearted 1920s cozy mystery to delight fans of Agatha Christie, T E Kinsey and Lee Strauss!

Book 2

I am pleasantly surprised, I enjoyed book 2 more than book 1. To clarify, I did like book one very much! Marius is more likeable, as well, in book 2, maybe I understand him a bit more this time around.

I had a suspicion of who the killer was but my top choice turned out to be innocent! I like to be kept guessing and that doesn't happen as often as I would like. I am looking forward to book 3.

THE FUN INTERESTING CHARACTERS!

TOO FUN AND ADDICTIVE. BB’S BOOKS ARE ALL ENCHANTING, FUN AND HISTORICALLY INTERESTING. FROM A FAN THAT HAS 30 BOOKS GOING AT ONCE… WHEN HIS MARIUS AND LORD “E” BOOKS COME OUT THAT SAME DAY THE OTHER 29 ARE ON HOLD UNTIL I FINISH THE LATEST AND GREATEST!

Delightful!

For me, character and community, make the cozy part of cozy mysteries. This novel is perhaps the most delightful I’ve read so far in a truly delightful series. Author and narrator are superb.

I love this series

The first Marius Quin was great, this is equally good. I am happy to enjoy Lord Edgington and company along with Marius and Bella. Its a fun mystery where everyone gets along. I am so tired of Police Officers with baggage. Equally boring is conflict in the police department. That formula has been overdone. This is good clean family entertainment with a nice little history lesson at the end.

Benedict Brown does it again!

He did it to me again. Yep, I fell for every red herring in the book. I thought FOR SURE I knew who the murderer was, and that was the problem...it was too obvious because I was wrong again. This story didn't move as well as other stories but it was still very enjoyable. Great characters and his new writing style works for me, although there was nothing wrong with his typical style-I love that too. Keep up the good work, Mr. Brown. Please continue to develop the Quinn and the Lord Edgeword series. They are both just wonderful and very entertaining.

Mystery Maven

Where to begin. Great story, excellent narration and what a puzzle. Now the characters are developing nicely but the last of this entry is quite the teaser; hope we don’t wait too long. Highly recommend all of the authors books and these new characters are top notch also.
