Publisher's summary

What if it's not your fault that sex is bad in your marriage?

Based on a groundbreaking in-depth survey of 22,000 Christian women, The Great Sex Rescue unlocks the secrets to what makes some marriages red hot while others fizzle out. Generations of women have grown up with messages about sex that make them feel dirty, used, or invisible, while men have been sold such a cheapened version of sex, they don't know what they're missing. The Great Sex Rescue hopes to turn all of that around, developing a truly biblical view of sex where mutuality, intimacy, and passion reign.

The Great Sex Rescue pulls back the curtain on what is happening in Christian bedrooms and exposes the problematic teachings that wreck sex for so many couples-and the good teachings that leave others breathless. In the #MeToo and #ChurchToo era, not only is this book a long overdue corrective to church culture, it is poised to free thousands of couples from repressive and dissatisfying sex lives so that they can experience the kind of intimacy and wholeness God intended.

Contains mature themes.

Everyone should listen/read this book

After 17 years of marriage I find this book so informative and refreshing. It was recommended to me by someone who is single wow. And is the only book that don't make sex one-sided i.e. to please the husband; leaving all the responsibility on the wife. This let it to be known that men should have what we all as Christians should have, that is self-control, respect, love for each other. We are to serve one-another. I love the references to many popular books that I was tempted to read but never did, now I know why. Many (including myself) learned about sex via porn which isn't how one should learn and opens the door to demonic influences and poisonous in my opinion. Listen to this book or buy the hard copy (I am)... Share it with others and if you don't think your spouse will listen to it, pray about it.

Needed book for Men to Read!

As a 27 year old single, Christian, male this book opened my eyes to so much hurt experienced by women and so many stories of how men have failed inadvertently and intentionally.

But one of the biggest hopes this book brings is that both men and women can have an incredible life, marriage, and sex life. To me this book will always hold a place in my heart and I will carry it’s teachings with me into my future marriage, and beyond. It gives me hope because with a little bit of knowledge and intentionality we can all have incredible lives! I don’t know where I would be without it!

Helpful and Healing

This book is so helpful! It gave words to express some things that I have felt but didn’t know exactly why. I now see that I was taught these things from Christian authors and was reinforced by pastors, but did not feel right to me. My husband agreed to read this book to help him recover from those teachings as well. This book will help both of us. We are sharing it with our adult sons as well so that their marriages will be healthier and they will cherish their wives in a more compassionate way. Deconstructing what we learned as young believers in our newlywed days is important for our intimacy. I feel freedom now and hope every Christian couple will read this together!

Every husband should read this book.

I'm a husband of 5 years. Its time that Christian men man up and quit blaming things on their wives. This book is one the best on the subject.

A must read for evangelical culture

This book is very needed in the evangelical culture today. I learned a lot and will definitely be doing things differently with my kids than I was taught.

Women need more voices like this!

This is what needs to be advocated in church. Talking about sex in general should not be tabo in church since it such a big aspect of our lives. But giving permission to open the conversation and saying with statistics not all church resources teach health (mental and physical for both partners). In general the basic principles should be taught clearly in society since some of these lies about men and women have bleed over to secular society and it is damaging. I have read a few of the damaging books mentioned and agree with this books analysis. Abuse and pain are never ok and we need to give our partners more credit in what they are capable of doing or not doing if we have open communication with them. Highly recommend.
