His grumpy neighbor needs some holiday sunshine....

Gideon Holiday is the perfect neighbor. Need a cup of sugar? Spare folding chair? Extra batteries? He's always ready to help. And he's waited years for his hot, grumpy, silver-fox neighbor, Paul, to need him. For anything. But right now, Gideon would be happy if he could just get the Scrooge-like Paul on board with the neighborhood holiday lights fundraiser.

Paul Frost has no intention of decking his halls or blazing any Yule logs. Even if his spunky bowtie-clad neighbor does look perfect for unwrapping, Paul would prefer to hide away until December is done. But when his beloved younger brother announces an unexpected visit, Paul needs all the trimmings for a festive homecoming - and fast.

Luckily, Gideon is there with a color-coded plan to save Christmas. Soon Paul's hanging lights, trimming trees, and rolling out cookies. And steaming up his new flannel sheets with Gideon. How did that happen?

It'll take some winter magic to preserve their happiness and keep these rival neighbors together longer than one holiday season.

Contains mature themes.

Cozy and Sweet

It’s what I expected from a holiday romance—Sweet, corny, and just enough spicy. I enjoyed listening to this.

Perfect Holiday Treat

This was everything I ever wanted in a Christmas romance. All of the small moments added up to a true heart warming story. Loved that the characters were able to see each other’s hurts and imperfections, and understand that it’s those imperfections that make us truly perfect. I will likely reread this every year to experience the joys over and over again.

Cute

The Geek Who Saved Christmas is a mm holiday romance about two over 40 men. The main characters are next door neighbors who share a driveway. Paul Frost is the grumpy silver fox who is single, never been married, and is still dealing with PTSD and the traumas of his parents’ death. Gideon Holiday is outwardly happy and optimistic, but also dealing with past traumas from an unstable childhood. Paul’s dog, Jim, appears throughout most of the book too.

Paul and Gideon have been neighbors for 4 years but only this year start to get acquainted. Paul raised his much younger brother after their parents died and his little brother is visiting him for Christmas and would like to propose to his girlfriend there, Paul isn’t a decorator but Gideon is a master decorator so Paul enlists Gideon’s help.

I thought this was a cute story. We got to see both main characters deal with their issues and start to really come out of their shells the more they spent time together. A couple of things that were off to me were that Gideon spent so much time away from his cat, Butterscotch, when he stayed multiple days in a row with Paul. It might just be the animal lover in me, but that’s not nice to do. Also, the book is supposed to be the strong construction man and the geek. Paul totally met his character expectations, but Gideon really wasn’t geeky at all. He just had more non-manual labor interests. Ultimately, not a big deal, just odd.

I think this book would be better read than listened to. The narrator had a nice voice and he was easy to understand, but he didn’t have unique voices from the main characters and it was hard to keep straight who was actually talking. I had to try to remember for each chapter, whose POV it was so I could determine who was talking at the time.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. I give it 4 stars.
