Publisher's summary

In January of 1989, Cameron Stauth became a fly on the office wall of Pistons General Manager Jack McCloskey. He watched day by day, crisis by crisis, as McCloskey, Coach Chuck Daly, and a handful of immensely talented and ambitious basketball players—the Bad Boys of Detroit—won the NBA championship.

A must listen for any sports fan!

I read every basketball book and most sports books in general so I can't believe I had never read this before. The book itself is fantastic but it's an absolute must listen because of how good the narrator is. Many times people mess up the names in sports books but this narrator clearly is an expert on the subject matter as well, which really enhances the experience. Hurry up and buy this already!

The Franchise

You would think this was historical fiction but the fact that it’s all true is what makes this book so amazing.

Great work by Cameron Stauth unearthing these great stories and the narration made me feel like I was right there.

80’s Hoops!!

The professional narration brought the Bad Boy’s to life. I thoroughly enjoyed revisiting this era of the NBA.

Wish it was longer!

Amazing, loved it! I wish it covered the next season as well. Excellent addition to my library.

Bad Boys Risen

Strong story explaining the background of a divergent group of personalities hell bent on winning. The narrator carried each character with just the right amount of each person to remember them.

The background and being made to remember the NBA and the systems that ran the NBA at that time. Great read and a rarity...an honest read.

What a ride!

I loved reliving this memory once again. I read this about 15 years ago and enjoyed listening to it again. Amazing the battles that this team went through and how they toppled the best of the golden age of NBA basketball.

One of the best audible readings I’ve ever listened to.

I am extremely biased because I absolutely love the bad boys. But the person reading this book did the best job of any book I’ve ever listened to. The impressions, the humor… Everything. Definitely my new favorite audible book that I will be listening to countless times.

Like DJ Khaled…

“Another one…”👍🏾

Matt has done it again!
His ability to vacillate among all the characters’ dialects makes for a fantastic listening experience.
From Isiah to Daly to Mahorn to Leon The Barber, this narrative portrayal of the “Bad Boys” Pistons by Mr. Martucci is highly entertaining and and enjoyable.
“Hang a Star on it”!
Well Done

Not LeBron's NBA

This book is about Michael Jordan's biggest obstacle..the Pistons of the '80s..MJ had to wait and learn how to play with a team. In the modern NBA, LeBron could carry a team to the finals all by himself as Jordan did with the Pistons. The Pistons created Jordan because he was able to overcome them. LeBron never had a challenge to overcome. That's why Jordan is the Goat. The great narration gives the book an edge..which the team had..if you didn't experience them, you're easily able to understtand why they were the most polarizing team of that generation.
