Publisher's summary

For every family secret, Elsie Finch covets the truth.
Consequences certainly come with being an heir of the Finch family estate, psychological consequences that neither parent comprehends will circle back to them.

In their personal chaos, Richard and Gail Finch design their estate to carry ramifications for misplaced loyalties, but when a third generation aims for the cache, someone is expendable. Who wins this long game?

Untying the family saga with blistering retaliations, someone will pay for the past.

Richard and Gail's unscrupulous schemes spill across the geography of San Francisco Bay, Phoenix Arizona, Oklahoma City, finally slipping into the shadow of the Rockies. Religious families can hide a host of carnal demons behind the veil.

Certain poetry transforms Elsie's grief when the family honor is offered to her siblings and finally to her.

Like THE GLASS HOUSE, WILD SWANS, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?, and GILEAD, ELSIE FINCH recreates a three-generational narrative of an American family blending intimacy and loyalty with a parent who, failing in marital intimacy, lives vicariously through a favored child.

Very religious with many biblical quotes.

A dysfunctional Christian family in a dysfunctional Christian belief system is my takeaway. Don’t let yourself be anything but a proper, submissive , Christian wife even if the man you married turns out to be emotionally and physically cruel. Whatever you do to survive and keep your children from starving, they will grow to blame you for everything including the emotionally distant father.
