Publisher's summary

Includes an audiobook-exclusive conversation between author Billy Stanley, his brother David Stanley, and writer Kent Sanders!

Behind the glamour and the crowds. Beyond the movies and the records.

Apart from all who knew him, wanted to know him, or just wanted to be near him.

Billy Stanley knew Elvis Presley as a brother—and as a man of deep faith.

From the day Billy Stanley arrived at Graceland and received a bear hug from the King of Rock and Roll to the last conversation they ever had, one thing stayed the same: Elvis’s passion for sharing God’s love with as many people he could.

In The Faith of Elvis, Billy illuminates Elvis’s Christian journey—from the notes Elvis made in his beloved Bible to his struggles with sin as his fame increased to his remarkable generosity toward fans and movie stars alike.

Through this first-hand account, you will find

  • touching family stories of the Elvis that pop culture doesn’t know;
  • a keen look into how Elvis intricately wove his faith into every part of his life;
  • insights into the ups-and-downs the four brothers experienced while at home and on the road together; and
  • examples of Elvis’s profound influence on others—from those closest to him to his cherished fans and, ultimately, the world at large.

Here you will find your own faith strengthened and your heart turned more toward heaven—or as Elvis would say, toward the only true King.

A must read for anyone who has heard of “Elvis”

I always knew Elvis had a great faith but he also had a relationship with God. I wish I could see his bible and all the notes he wrote
This book has deepened my faith and have to say it made my admiration of Elvis and his life stronger. It was hard to put down

So Touching!

This is one of the best Elvis books I’ve ever read. Thank you Billy for writing this book. I knew Elvis was a spiritual man but never knew how deeply spiritual he was. This book touched my heart in so many ways. To think how he took in these little boys and taught them how to pray and read scripture and all about God and all these years later these men are still preaching the gospel and bringing people to Jesus is so beautiful and overwhelming! That is why God chose Elvis to bless so abundantly!!!
I highly recommend this book for everyone to read, Elvis fan or not!

Beautiful Remembrance of Elvis

The Faith of Elvis by Billy Stanley came across as a beautiful remembrance of his big (step) brother. Billy and his two brothers came into Elvis's life when Elvis's father married their mother, Dee. Billy was seven at the time and did not know how big of a deal Elvis was, just that he was a kind and fun-loving, generous older brother, he immediately made the three boys feel welcome and wanted at Graceland. This book highlights the many good times they shared, including their mutual love of music and fast cars. The book also highlights, as the title suggests, the faith of Elvis. I found all of this to be interesting and I loved learning more 'behind-the-scenes' of this aspect of his life. I absolutely love Elvis's gospel songs, so found it interesting to learn that the only Grammy awards he ever won were for his gospel music. This book is not a 'tell-all', there is very little mentioned of anything negative or salacious. Billy says Elvis was only human and had his shortcomings, but doesn't mention drug use, although he does say he loved the ladies. There is also very little mention of Priscilla (I actually don't remember any) and I only recall one comment regarding Lisa Marie.

hope the author(s) read this

reading this book was a testimony building experience. I was having some doubts about my faith when I came across this book. Hearing the many stories of Elvis's deep relationship with the gospel made me think, if this man who had all this fame and fortune can be humble enough to pray, and read scripture, then I can do it too. A lot of people with fame and fortune distance themselves from God but not elvis. This was an inspiring read that helped me feel closer to Christ and the Holy Spirit and if you are a Christian I believe it will do the same for you too.

Growing up with Elvis

Although I did not care for the narrator, I was happy to learn about Elvis’s love of God and how he tried to live his life with love for everyone in service to God.

Heartfelt

If you don’t finish this book and long to love the lord, reread it… never knew Elvis loved the lord this much.. We all suffer and are broken vessels and the only image I had of Elvis was like the worlds great entertainer died on the toilet fat and drug addicted.. after this book I thought I’m judging because that broken vessel is in heaven with a new body and walking the streets of gold with Jesus.. no longer suffering
