Publisher's summary

The New York Times best-selling author of The End of Alzheimer's lays out a specific plan to help everyone prevent and reverse cognitive decline or simply maximize brainpower.

In The End of Alzheimer's, Dale Bredesen laid out the science behind his revolutionary new program that is the first to both prevent and reverse symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. Now he lays out the detailed program he uses with his own patients. Accessible and detailed, it can be tailored to anyone's needs and will enhance cognitive ability at any age.

What we call Alzheimer's disease is actually a protective response to a wide variety of insults to the brain: inflammation, insulin resistance, toxins, infections, and inadequate levels of nutrients, hormones, and growth factors. Bredesen starts by having us figure out which of these insults we need to address and continues by laying out a personalized lifestyle plan. Focusing on the Ketoflex 12/3 diet, which triggers ketosis and lets the brain restore itself with a minimum 12-hour fast, Dr. Bredesen drills down on restorative sleep, targeted supplementation, exercise, and brain training. He also examines the tricky question of toxic exposure and provides workarounds for many difficult problems. The takeaway is that we do not need to do the program perfectly but will see tremendous results if we can do it well enough.

With inspiring stories from patients who have reversed cognitive decline and are now thriving, this book shifts the treatment paradigm and offers a new and effective way to enhance cognition as well as unprecedented hope to sufferers of this now no longer deadly disease.

“Once in a generation a book comes along that changes the way we think, that sheds light on our darkest struggles, that provides a clear, scientific path to ending the scourge of a disease that robs millions of their minds. The End of Alzheimer’s Program is that book. Whether you want to enhance and optimize your brain at any age, prevent cognitive decline and even reverse early dementia, Dr. Bredesen, in breathtakingly simple, scientifically profound steps maps a way to achieve this. If you have a brain, read this book.” (Mark Hyman, MD, Head of Strategy and Innovation: Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, number-one New York Times best-selling author of Food Fix: How to Save Our Health, Our Economy, Our Communities and Our Planet – One Bite at a Time)

“Dale Bredesen MD has done it again. Teaming up with his wife, an integrative physician, and Julie Gregory, one of his recovered patients, he delivers the essential how-to guide for risk reduction and potentially reversal of cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease. This elegantly written, step-by-step handbook to Dr. Bredesen’s revolutionary protocol will help thousands if not millions. Condensed wisdom

This is not an easy read. But so worth it. The knowledge is really condensed

Great resource for those suffering or those caring for those suffering from Alzheimer’s or Dementia

This book is an amazing look at how best to deal with complex chronic disease. So much of our current approach is based on one treatment and one approach. It turns out humans are complex and many of the complex diseases and conditions we face require a multifaceted approach.

I hope people read this and follow the advice. As someone in the late 40s but noticing brain fog and general memory lapse I was terrified as to my future prospects. My grandmother spend 14 with Alzheimer’s and died a shell of her former self and and father has been able to reverse many of his symptoms based on a multifaceted approach (food, sleep, stress management, BHRT, and exercise). He’s almost 80 and doing extremely well.

This book is a great addition to tools we need to overcome this plague.

Comprehensive details, stories to help us understand.

Great stuff for finite methods on cures to many common problems. Healthier overall with a better brain, thats the goal anyway. The technical names for curative remedies or treatments can be overwhelming, albeit helpful. He fixes that with the last couple chapters on a cumulative review & concrete steps to help each person find their own, best prevention or repairs :)

Too much info for an audio book

If you are seriously planning to benefit from this book, buy it, don't just listen. The downloads don't compensate; you will need to refer to this book over and over. I would say it is painfully detailed at times.

What Society Needs to Hear

There are many medical and health professionals that have been explaining for years that the medical system in the US is broken. This book, while specifically addresses Alzheimer’s, addresses the broader picture of what a healthy America could look like if we as a society took a more holistic view of health. I will be recommending this book to all of my loved ones with the hope that they will take just some of its advice and in turn realize a truly longer and healthier health span.
Thank you Dr Bredesen, I don’t agree with 100% of everything in this book, but it is 100% the direction we need to go

Dense with biochemical facts but illicits hope

This book is very important for everyone not only those grappling with Alzheimers. My wife and I have committed to following (imperfectly) Dr. Bredesen’s guidelines and have gotten a renewed hope for our health.
