When Silvie Martin moves to New York from Texas with her husband, Simon, and their one year-old daughter, Mary, she is filled with the joy and hope she derives from their shared faith. But no sooner have they moved into their new home, which backs on to their church, than her husband is brutally murdered before her very eyes. The only trouble is, the shock has completely erased her memory….

Now, 18 years later, Detectives Stone and Dehan have to piece together a crime where their prime witness remembers nothing, and the suspects are as bizarre as they are unlikely: Reverend Paul Truelove, bombastic and irresistible to women, Humberto, the mysterious, shambling freak who speaks a language only he understands, El Chato, the Mexican housebreaker, and even Sylvie herself….

But Stone and Dehan know, where sex and religion mix, nothing is ever simple. And the deeper they investigate, the more convinced they are, there is something they are not seeing….

Can't stop listening

The stories have so many twists by the end you're confused but then it's all wrapped up in a bow just as it ends. Can't wait to start the next three books. The narration is superb, too.

Fantastic

Adam Grouper is one of the best readers I have heard. The stories are extremely well thought out and the interpersonal relationships are masterful.

Good But Annoying

Books 5 & 6 have serious extremist religious storylines. Book 7 is based on extremist politics, most likely the urban myths surrounding the Clintons. Makes me wonder the political affiliation of the author. If you can get past that annoyance, the overall stories are is good - fast paced, usual sparring between Stone and Dehan,

Enjoyable read

Characters are well developed and the cases are all different. Not the same story over and over.

Narrator makes the story interesting.

The stories have l a lot of twists and turns and it make it difficult to guess who is guilty or what really happened. I enjoy every chapter and every book.

5-7

Good book with excellent characters and great storyline. Cold cases that heat up very fast when John and Carmen are on the job.
