Publisher's summary

Poe's just hanging around on a Saturday afternoon....

Dangling from a hook in a meat packing plant isn't how Detective Sergeant Washington Poe wants to spend his weekend. He's been punched and kicked and threatened, and when a contract killer arrives, it seems things are about to go from bad to worse. He goes by the name of the Pale Man, and he and his straight-edged razor have been feared all over London for 20 years.

But Poe knows two things the Pale Man doesn't. Although it might seem like a hopeless situation, Poe has planned to be here all along. More importantly, a nerdy computer whizz-kid called Tilly Bradshaw is watching his back. And now things are about to get interesting....

Fun, but please work out the production glitches!

As a big fan of DS Washington Poe and Tilly Bradshaw, (not to mention narrator John Banks, who is quickly ascending in my pantheon of best Audible narrators), I very much enjoyed this side romp, especially as I will have to wait a while for the next novel in the series. While I found the ending satisfying and the storytelling entertaining, it was slightly predictable, which was why I took star off the story rating. I also took a star off the overall rating to reflect my disappointment that the editing problems that have plagued this this excellent series have not been resolved. JW Craven, John Banks, and Poe & Co. deserve better attention to the production of the series.

Too predictable.

The story was trite and too predictable. It utilized many of the tropes that readers of police procedurals are familiar with.
