Publisher's summary

The battle with the World Eaters had taken its toll on Benjamin Jamison. Ghosts of the past haunted him, year after year of war and skirmishes, and blood and guts had caught up with him. His relationship with Tazleaha, queen of Cjittan, has fared no better. He has had no messages from her for weeks.

Unfortunately, there is no rest for the Reaper as he takes his band of privateers and heads to the next location the Khalnalax have been planning to decimate: Idaline. Once a traveler's paradise, it's now almost barren of inhabitants. Those who did not flee were taken away to a life of servitude.

Allied with the Cjittan Navy, Reaper is going to take charge. He is going to find out what happened to Taz, and he is going to do it his way. A new set of armor and a four-legged friend are all he needs to put a stop to empires at war.

Very strange ending..

Left me feeling ,"What the heck happened"?
Ben simply disappears, kidnapped by aliens, his daughter and crew go to work for Taz...and the lights go out. There has to be more to this story, or perhaps the writer just took a quick way out because he was tired of it. I don't know. Non-closure in this story just left me feeling let down and empty. On the other hand Ben was rapidly sliding into something akin to megalomania. Very strange.

nice story.

I think its been typical read this time. The circumstances were to weird and not as interesting as in earlier books. Still, keep'em coming.

Don't listen to the epilogue

I want to start off by saying that this is a great continuation of the Benjamin Jamison Series. As I went through the book I was happy, sad, and excited, and with the final chapter came a curveball that I didn't see coming. Then I reached the epilogue... in my opinion, it is a major break in style. Before the epilogue, I was hyped for the next book and couldn't wait for the next book, but the epilogue completely killed all desire to continue on and it will take years and a monumental effort for me to get back to this series. Basically, I loved 99% of the book but the last 1% has destroyed my interest in the next book.

Now if you are reading this after the next book comes out then you can just ignore this and take it as a 5-star review, or you could wait for the next book to come out before finishing the epilogue and instead treat it as a prologue of the next book.

Awesome until cliffhanger

I have very much enjoyed this series, even though there were a couple of strange turns that happened throughout the story. This one followed that same thought until the very end, where you are left with a RIDICULOUS cliffhanger. The narration by Guy Williams was outstanding.
