Publisher's summary

As a Fish and Wildlife police officer, Luke McCain and his partner - a yellow Lab named Jack - spend their days patrolling the rivers, lakes, and forests of the wild and scenic Cascade Mountains in Eastern Washington. After hunters discover human remains inside a bear's stomach, McCain is thrust into the investigation.

As more dead women are found in McCain's region, authorities suspect a serial killer is prowling the mountains he knows best. McCain will need his knowledge as an outdoorsman, and his instincts as an investigator, to track the psychopathic predator before he kills again.

great story mediocre reading.

Living in the SW Washington the story was very captivating and well written. The reader seemed un-invested in the story.

Chinook pass is the best location for this

We have a cabin up there and could not stop listening to this. Soooo great! Can’t wait to read/hear the rest.

Town pronunciation was awful!

Disheartened to hear the local town names mispronounced. Made me not want to listen. Story was ok and locations were accurate but the pronunciation I just can’t….

Pronouncing local towns

Great story. But when you turn a book into an audiobook, it would be helpful to get help from the author to pronounce towns, areas or names like the locals do.

Great story

I liked this story. It was believable and the characters were compelling. I also liked the narrator. He was very easy to listen to. Just need to teach him how to pronounce some of those Indian names.

This has overtones of Doiron and Mayne...

If you like Paul Doiron’s Mike Bowditch or the first book in The Naturalist Series by Andrew Mayne then you will surely enjoy this book as well. The protagonist is Luke McCain. He’s a Fish and Wildlife Game Warden in Washington state. At first the murder of young women looked like animal attacks. Our hero soon realizes the attacks are not being committed by any four legged animal but rather one that walks on two legs instead. .......,,,....., Lamont Mapp does a really good job narrating. ................. This book is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. .................. If you found this review helpful please indicate so. ................. Thank You.

Enjoyable

An enjoyable story with a bit of suspense and laughable moments. I really liked the ending, which I didn’t see coming, we’ll done Mr. Phillips.

Excellent Must Read Book!

I live in the area where this story takes place and the author nailed each and every detail and it was neat to follow along and know where each place was at in real life. I was glue to this book from the beginning and finished it in one day! Great job by the author and the narrator! I can’t wait for his next book!
