Jean-Henri Fabre (1823-1915) was a popular teacher, physicist, chemist and botanist, but is best known for his findings in the study of insects, and is considered by many to be the father of modern entomology. Much of his enduring popularity is due to his engaging manner of writing about the lives of insects in biographical form. A favorite! Read and re-read
I honestly was shocked to see a one-star review of this book with no explanation. I have to assume it is a mistake. Burgess' stories may be a bit old-fashioned, but they are wonderful and this narrator (unlike the most prevalent narrator of these stories here on audible) does a lovely job. While we avoid the other narrator at all costs, this recording is lovely. These characters are so full of life, information and fun. I love reading these stories to my children, but I am glad to have a resource which reads to them when I am unable. Totally worth the credit.
