Publisher's summary

From the New York Times, USA Today, and Publishers Weekly bestselling author!

A game-changing peace treaty between Israel and the Saudis is nearly done.

The secretary of state is headed to the region to seal the deal.

And Special Agent Marcus Ryker is leading an advance trip along the Israeli-Lebanon border, ahead of the secretary’s arrival.

But when Ryker and his team are ambushed by Hezbollah forces, a nightmare scenario begins to unfold. The last thing the White House can afford is a new war in the Mideast that could derail the treaty and set the region ablaze. U.S. and Israeli forces are mobilizing to find the hostages and get them home, but Ryker knows the clock is ticking.

When Hezbollah realizes who they’ve captured, no amount of ransom will save them - they’ll be transferred to Beirut and then to Tehran to be executed on live television.

In the fourth installment of Rosenberg’s gripping series, Marcus Ryker finds himself in the most dangerous situation he has ever faced - captured, brutalized, and dragged deep behind enemy lines.

Should he wait to be rescued? Or try to escape? How? And what if his colleagues are too wounded to run?

This is the CIA’s most valuable operative as you have never seen him before.

Critic reviews

“The best audiobooks succeed when narrators such as George Guidall perform so exceptionally that listeners can visualize every moment.... Guidall's performance is flawless, particularly in the way he captures the tones, accents, and brutality of Ryker's captors. Guidall is equally adept at depicting intimate moments among some of Ryker's rescuers, resulting in an audiobook that satisfies listeners on all levels.” (AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award Winner)

Another exceptional story!

The playback speed needed to be adjusted to .80% for the narrative to be tolerable.

Another home run! Hoping for another installment

I finished WAY too fast! I’m not happy with myself because I don’t even know if or when another book will be coming out!

I love this character and was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Let me just say that I hope I never find myself in the clutches of any terrorist group—very, very scary stuff.

The most enjoyable aspect of this novel is its timeliness and relevance to today’s events. I’m interested to hear what direction the next book will take considering the current administration and their policies on the Middle East, and Israel and Iran in particular.

The Beruit Protocol is prophetic thriller!

This could easily be ripped from recent historical events. Nail biting thriller that is all too real!

Excellent Storyline

The storyline, just as others have said, is wonderful but the narration was awful. It lacked depth, it was flat and hard to listen to.

Unfinished

I’d recommend this book if you knew could know what the ending was but it stops reading and never finishes the book. Very frustrating

Always the best!

My only complaint with all of Rosenberg‘a books Is that they end too quickly and I have to wait such a long time for the next one to be released! Thrilling and riveting, once again Joel Rosenberg Has left me waiting for the future.

Not your best work

The plot was rather simple however the bulk of the book was in character development which was sometimes hard to follow. What I have enjoyed most with Joel Rosenberg novels is the weaving in of current events and plausible possible unfolding in the Middle East and Israel. These ideas were what made the authors original novels so captivating.

Good story, tough to follow all the foreign names.

This was another good story and a great narrator. I think I am just getting tired of the Middle East extremists against the U.S.and Israel. I miss the Cold War.
