Publisher's summary

The Chandler brothers from New York Times best-selling author Carly Phillips are back!

He’s got wanderlust and no intention of settling down.

She’s home to stay and has put her bad-boy ex in her rearview mirror.

After spending his life abroad, embracing his freedom at every turn as a foreign correspondent, Roman Chandler finds himself the brother nominated to deal with his ailing mother’s matchmaking shenanigans. Thanks to a coin toss, he needs to find someone to marry and fast. It shouldn’t be that hard in sleepy Yorkshire Falls where women fall over themselves to hook a Chandler man.

But Roman only wants the one woman who got away.

Charlotte Bronson is back home to put down roots and get her lingerie business off the ground. She’s not interested in her past or a man that chose to chase breaking news stories to the far corners of the earth over her. No matter how good they used to be or how combustible their chemistry still burns.

It’s up to Roman to convince Charlotte he’s a changed man and here to stay.

Charlotte and Roman

I love this author! This is a great storyline and the main characters dated in high school. Roman is looking for a wife due to their mothers health.
I loved how they, Roman and Charlotte are still attracted to each other!
The ending was perfect and I liked the narrator.

I love this story!

Angela Dawe is it great narrator and I love how she presented this story about a pretty much confirmed bachelor who wound up really realizing in life that sometimes love and family are more important than a career.

Pacing of the story and narration made it odd

I know there was a decent premise here. Somehow, it felt as if some of the best bits weren’t being shared - almost as if I was being rushed to the end. I listened twice to be sure I hadn’t accidentally skipped some parts. Add a narrator reading in a style more appropriate for a 40’s radio detective drama and it just seemed off and left me feeling blah.

Alright

I checked out the complete series of this book but only could finish this book. Although I finished it, it was a struggle. A little too long for what the plot was. I got me through my day and task.

Daddy issues

Good story. Good narration. Frustrating to listen to so many insecurities caused by daddy issues. It’s hard to imagine a man fighting so hard in real life to wade through her ridiculous notions & blame when others have dealt better with so much worse. But…fairy tales don’t have to be realistic.

Boring

I usually like Carly Phillips books but I had a hard time getting into the story. Did not care for the main characters.

Narrators - horrible

If the narrators are a make or break for you, DO NOT PURCHASE. Horrid ! Can’t get past the narration to even determine if the story is good or not.

Something a 6th grader would write

I rarely write reviews and even try to give the author the benefit of the doubt but this plot was too much. Spoiler alerts below
A healthy mother of three adult men has indigestion and somehow ends up admitted to the hospital. She then uses her hospitalization to lie to her three adult children saying she has a bad heart. This results in them rushing to her side- one son leaving a thriving career and leaving everything to come home. The sons then flip a coin to see who has to marry someone now and have a child so the mom can have a grandchild before she dies.
Throughout the first part of the book the mom is sneaking around to exercise, so her sons still think she has a “weak heart”.
Her family Dr. becomes her boyfriend and helps her with the ruse.
I didn’t finish because it was a colossal waste of my time. Just No
