Love this Harry Nike chap!

First it was Johnny Dollar, then Radio Spirits turned me on to Harry Nile for the win.

Ultra processed and refined nostalgia

The radio detective episodes of 1940-50s are updated extremely well with a modernised PI. Harry has an unexcitable nice guy approach in sharp contrast to the old style shamus; whereas the theme music, narration style and name dropping optimally illicit nostalgic feelings.
Possible complaints
1. too smooth or homogeneous: analogous to modern sugar/flour/salt/flavourings trying to replicate old time foods. 2. Main characters are top notch actors but some guest parts are awkwardly acted. 3. Good plot variety as well as a span of intricacies (simple to complex all represented) but the concluding segment is often rushed, contrived and unbelievable. Harry gets to bring everyone together for a big reveal in incredible circumstances.
Let me argue against myself: old time shows often had problems 2 and 3 so continuing those issues is a way to overcome my first complaint. These episodes are trying to stay true to the genre even when it lowers the bar in the overall product.
Try not to binge listen!! Savor 1-2 at a time. There’s lots of value for your credit in this collection (also, this collection is not (yet) on satellite radio.)
