Publisher's summary

The shroud is lifted and truths too disturbing to believe are unveiled when an explosion at the town hall traps TJ under a pile of rubble as the walls of the building rain down around her. When the dust settles, TJ is left wondering if you can ever really know another person or if the armor you see is simply an illusion created to conceal the lies that are buried beneath.

While TJ struggles with the duplicity of someone she'd previously held dear, she is also forced to deal with the fact that two popular residents are dead with four others in the hospital clinging to life.

As the remaining town council members struggle to rebuild from the ashes of what was lost, TJ commits to helping Roy find the individual responsible for this horrific event while trying to juggle an important life decision.

Sweet, but slow moving plot

The characters were endearing and warm. The story moved slowly though, and I was ready for it to be finished halfway through. It was a picturesque setting.

LOVED THE BOOK

I SAW A BAD REVIEW CHARACTERIZING THE BOOK AS BORING. I GATHER THAT READER DIDN'T START WITH BOOK 1 OR EVEN 2. IT IS TRUE THIS BOOK IS MORE MEANINGFUL IF YOU HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE CHARACTERS AND KNOW THE HISTORY, BUT FOR THOSE OF US WHO DO, IT IS A GREAT READ. I CANNOT WAIT FOR THE NEXT.

Good story with frustrating wrting

The characters in this series are mostly believable and well developed. The mystery is a bit complicated, but still intriguing enough.

The most annoying elements is that the writer doesn't seem to use contractions, or perhaps it's the narrator? I only have this on Audible, so no printed book to check. Either way, it's truly frustrating. It's very unnatural for anyone speaking modern English to not use contractions, it makes it sound like a stilted historical story. I've listened to 3 of these on the Plus catalog, I won't be spending credits on the others.

Listener beware!

This was painfully boring from beginning to end. I wouldn't read anything by this author again.
