Publisher's summary

In this sequel to the best-selling fantasy thriller Angelfall, the survivors of the angel apocalypse begin to scrape back together what’s left of the modern world. When a group of people capture Penryn’s sister Paige, thinking she’s a monster, the situation ends in a massacre. Paige disappears. Humans are terrified. Mom is heartbroken.

Penryn drives through the streets of San Francisco looking for Paige. Why are the streets so empty? Where is everybody? Her search leads her into the heart of the angels’ secret plans, where she catches a glimpse of their motivations, and learns the horrifying extent to which the angels are willing to go.

Meanwhile, Raffe hunts for his wings. Without them, he can’t rejoin the angels, can’t take his rightful place as one of their leaders. When faced with recapturing his wings or helping Penryn survive, which will he choose?

Does not disappoint!!!!

Surpasses the first book in every way. So impressed considering this is the middle book in a trilogy!

Okay, but...

This book was okay, but not as good as the first book in the series. I found myself tuning out a lot because it just wasn't that interesting. There were several plot developments that were just silly, like the stuff with the sword.

So good!

A little bit darker and more gruesome than the first one, but still amazing. Interesting and exciting.

Fan-freakin-tastic!

This was one epic sequel! It picks up right where Angelfall left off and continues with a very fast paced, action-packed, scary and very suspenseful story. Although it has a lot less romance to it, this book answers many lingering questions from the first one. Such as "why the angel apocalypse?".
I loved that the author showed us more of Penryn's sister and mother. Not to mention all the wonderful Pooky Bear moments! It really added an important layer to the overall story. And that ending! Just wow! The wait for book 3 is going to be a long one.

Not as good as the first

This novel was definitely a little weaker than the first installment in the series. I really enjoyed AngelFall. World After was not a waste of my time, but the storyline seemed to meander a little more off track than the first. It felt as if Susan Ee lost her way a little bit, kind of like the sophomore slump with college athletes...not really sure how to proceed.

There were some touching moments, and some great scenes, but overall it fell short of my expectations. I also felt that Caitlin Davies got into a rut in the narration as well. She got a little too singsongy, and the character voices began to get on my nerves about a third of the way through the story.

Another great addiction

So excited to see where the finale to this story is going based on this middle book. It is a must-read in the series. It builds the characters more and adds interest and comfort to Rafi and Pennryn's relationship.
