Publisher's summary

About three things I was certain.

First, Edward was a vampire.

Second, there was a part of him, and I didn't know how dominant that part might be, that thirsted for my blood.

And Third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. Up until now, Edward has managed to keep his vampire identity a secret in the small community he lives in, but now nobody is safe, especially Isabella, the person Edward holds most dear. The lovers find themselves balanced precariously on the point of a knife, between desire and danger.

Deeply sensuous and extraordinarily suspenseful, Twilight captures the struggle between defying our instincts and satisfying our desires. This is a love story with bite.

Great to reread

I have listened to this book multiple times. Great story and narration. It's one of those stories you can read again and again.

its a rough start but gets better

did not enjoy the beginning. when she starts the story, its very monotone and she doesn't portray any range of emotions through her speech patterns. as the story progresses she either does better or I got used to it. love the story.

Wonderful series

It's gets quite sappy at times, but the story grips me from the start. This is my least favorite of the saga but I still haven't tired of reading/listening to it.

surprisingly entertaining!

Like the fellow reviewers, i had some small issues with the narrator. instances where the inflection could have been a bit stronger, that way as a listener I'd be able to pick up on the differences between relief and exasperation. unfortunately i had to wait for these moments of dialogue to be explained before i could understand the mood of the conversation which was only slightly annoying. otherwise the reading was fine.

on the story. i had previously seen all the movies and other content to do with them but i wasn't a huge fan, i found the acting cringy and the storyline a little generic. I'd heard from fans that the books were much better and I'm glad i gave it a chance. the compatibility between Edward and Bella is much more believable here and i found myself smiling during the confession. moments between the two of them are actually funny at times and the personalities of Edwards siblings i appreciated that they were more fleshed out. I'll be honest, there wasn't anything very original about this love story but it's genuinely enjoyable.

A Bias 5 stars

I have been a fan of this book since 2007. As an adult I read it out of love for the book but am all to well aware of all the problematic things that go on. The main character really goes through it in this book and all the books that follow. Bella does not know what a healthy relationship is and that is visible from the first few pages and is just made more clear when she meets Eddy boy.

love the story but the narrator sounds almost robotic. there is no real emotion in her voice.
