Reformed Playboy + Abused Broken Heroine

What made the experience of listening to Trouble the most enjoyable?

Dual narrative, interesting twist but definitely had a dark vibe to it.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dozer the dog!

Which character – as performed by Sean Crisden and Tatiana Sokolov – was your favorite?

Both equal however not my favorites. Their voices seem a bit old for these characters in this book.

Any additional comments?

Unfortunately, this book has a similar theme to many other books out right now. sudden reformed womanizer meets tortured abused broken heroine...

Terrible - douche alert

I don't understand how you can get a book published when the so-called "hero" is a complete douche - especially a romance. The character of Jordan completely ruined this book for me. I don't expect the characters of any novel to be perfect. In fact, the less perfect the better. But there has to be some kind of redeeming qualities to them. I couldn't find that in Jordan. Granted, I didn't complete the book either, but every time the point of view turned to Jordan I found myself hating everything about him. Even his inner monologue was horrible. He was constantly talking about his cock and how wet he could get it. He was disgusting. Usually when there is a womanizer involved, the inner monologue shows something redeemable about the character. This inner monologue only made me hate his more. Just because he loves his dog and his father doesn't mean he's a good person.

Seriously, I hated this book and plan to return it...the first time I've ever done that with Audible.

Don't waste your credit. Stay away.

Dark, Sad, Sweet

How do those all work together? Don't know but they do! This is a great one, a stand alone which I don't always like simply because I really like to delve into the characters and know them but I feel like we did that in this book. We get an intimate look into the lives of both and really begin to love them. I really don't have anything negative to say, the narration was good, but not great. Did not distract from the story at all. Very good. The story moves pretty fast. I cried several times throughout and finished in one go. This would be a difficult one to put down so I'd say don't start right before bed :) Nice sexy scenes, nothing kinky in this one, the story line is what is dark and sad not the romance.

OK, Not Great

This was a fairly predictable book, would be a good beach read. I did not like Sean Crisden's women's voices. Tatiana Sokolov's voice sounds like another Audible narrator. I found the pace a bit slow at times, and moved the speed up to 1.25%.

An OK listen but nothing special

This book is predictable and too much angst. It's an OK listen but nothing special. I am not sure if it's worth a credit.

Kept me listening

I liked this book. Very sad in the beginning, but I like how Mia found love, got therapy and overcame her trauma. She was deserving of something positive in her life. From the middle to the end, I binged.

Not as bad as other reviews make it seem but not Towle’s best

First off, I disagree with the other reviews hating on the main guy... he is a douche at first but that is the entire point of the evolution of his character. I love Sean Crisden, but I didn’t love Tatiana Sokolov’s performance - it’s too forced. Regardless, Towle’s other books (River Wild and the Hollywood books) are better... this one is kind of anticlimactic and throws a lot into one scenario that makes it almost too difficult to relate (SEMI-SPOILER: two deaths of wives, two abusive perpetrators, with the illnesses both main characters are experiencing...) and it was a tad predictable. Either way, don’t regret listening to it but will not listen to it again.

Fairy Tail ending BUT!

it wasn't the worst thing I had listened to you all year it wasn't the most gripping with swelling story but well written (nice story). it would be perfect for a vacation for small trips definitely not hunker down get immersed in. the ending will floor you didn't see it coming
