Editorial reviews

"By turns poised and visceral." ( School Library Journal)

Publisher's summary

Love - good and bad - forces three teens' worlds to tilt in a riveting standalone novel from #1 New York Timesbest-selling author Ellen Hopkins.

Three teens, three stories - all interconnected through their parents' family relationships. As the adults pull away, caught up in their own dilemmas, the worlds of the teens begin to tilt.

Mikayla, almost 18, is over-the-top in love with Dylan, who loves her back jealously. But what happens to that love when Mikayla gets pregnant the summer before their senior year and decides to keep the baby?

Shane turns 16 that same summer and falls hard in love with his first boyfriend, Alex, who happens to be HIV positive. Shane has lived for four years with his little sister's impending death. Can he accept Alex's love, knowing his life, too, will be shortened?

Harley is 14 - a good girl searching for new experiences, especially love from an older boy. She never expects to hurdle toward self-destructive extremes in order to define who she is and who she wants to be.

Love, in all its forms, has crucial consequences in this wrenching story from Ellen Hopkins.

Critic reviews

"This will be recognizable territory to anyone who has read Hopkins' earlier novels…As a cautionary tale, however, this offers helpful insights into the continuing presence of HIV in teen lives and the urgency of making better choices in matters involving sex." ( Booklist)
"Brimming with shoes about to drop (some do, some don't) and the drama her fans devour…" ( Kirkus Reviews)

Never lets me down!

I loved this book. I'm happy to hear the other side of Triangles from the kids point of view. There needs to be another!

other reviews say there isn't really an ending....

And they're right. This is the sister book to "Triangles" and I listened to it to get more insight to the story.
they only align because of the characters, but unfortunately its a whole other story, not much information on the parents at all.
I was really enjoying it. could hardly stop listening actually. but there was no resolution. no real ending. the Last few pages were bombshells of information, but they were left completely hanging. if this is a cliffhanger, and there is a sequel i dont know about or Ellen is writing one now.. that was a crappy way to leave things.
endings like that make me not even want to listen to or read the sequel.

POV of Teens and Part 2 of Triangles

I love this book! It's fast paced, poetic, authentic style of Ellen Hopkins, and a solid second part of Triangles. It's wonderful to hear the inner thoughts and feelings of the teenagers.

Excellent work, as expected from this author.

Where does Tilt rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This was actually my first audiobook, I enjoyed it! It's a very different experience vs actually reading the book...it's a little hard to keep up with each different character in the beginning.

What did you like best about this story?

I always love how deep into the character and their thoughts/story she goes into in such little words. She really paints the picture of what each character is experiencing, I think the way she depicts each struggle they are facing is very well thought out and current to what young adults experience today.

What about the narrators’s performance did you like?

Everything! They portrayed the characters emotions very well.

Different people,different life paths,same town...

Another amazing book by Ellen Hopkins. She always knows just how to keep the reader guessing, wondering and reading.... Or listening in this case. I love how this book involves r "main" characters. Four teens, in the same town, same school. And how they may know only of the person by name, their paths somehow cross. Not always in a good way. However I love that this book cover such "taboo" or maybe inappropriate - Yet 100‰ truth&reality. Of how tuff life really is for teens, high school... The pressure of being this way or that.
How if something horrible and wrong happens to someone, they feel all alone in what happened. I love how even though these 4 teenagers lives end up crossing one way or another. Even when a friendship is solid, strong. Those said friends, can't see, really see, the change the sadness - when it's rite in front of them.
Maybe people of all ages, can take away from this book, to slow down some, take the time to really pay attention to those around us, because there are always signs.

Love the book wish their was an ending

I love the book and I love how it tells a little more than Triangles does as it goes a few months out from Shelbys death and provides a little conclusion to the adults stories but i wish we could have a conclusion to the kids stories as well, especially with Mikayla.
