Publisher's summary

"My name is Chloe Saunders and my life will never be the same again.

"All I wanted was to make friends, meet boys, and keep on being ordinary. I don't even know what that means anymore. It all started on the day that I saw my first ghost - and the ghost saw me.

"Now there are ghosts everywhere, and they won't leave me alone. To top it all off, I somehow got myself locked up in Lyle House, a 'special home' for troubled teens. Yet the home isn't what it seems. Don't tell anyone, but I think there might be more to my housemates than meets the eye. The question is, whose side are they on?

"It's up to me to figure out the dangerous secrets behind Lyle House...before its skeletons come back to haunt me."

Good Start To The Series

Entertaining story. It took some time for me to get used to the narrator's voice. Too "child-like" for me and it didn't seem to match the character's age in the story. It would have been better if the narrator was actually in the 16-18 yr. age range

Narrated by a 5 year old?

What made the experience of listening to The Summoning the most enjoyable?

While this trilogy is obviously written for a preteen audience, it's not bad light listening for an adult. What is hard to get used to is the baby voice. I swear that my 5 year old granddaughter sounds better. This is supposed to be a 15 year old, but the voice sounds like someone doing baby talk.

What other book might you compare The Summoning to and why?

Don't even think of comparing this to the Twilight or Hunger Game series,. It isn't even on the same planet!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Unless she is actually a five year old, she uses a ridiculous baby voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Narrator was almost too annoying to keep me listening.

Impressive

I have read all of Kelley Armstrong's adult books and have to say that I almost enjoyed this a little more. The narration was good and the book kept you on your toes. Her characters were, as always, very intriguing. This is a good listen and I can't wait for the second installment next year.

My favorite series!

I love how this series correlates with the adult series creating an immersive world that I love to dip my toes in over a rainy weekend! Kelley is by far my favorite writer.

Warm-hearted young girl battles powers of darkness

I couldn't stop until I heard all three books. A young girl finds strength and courage and some unlikely allies. I love the naarator. She sounds like a young girl because that is the main character!

Thrillersupernaturalromance=theedgeofyourseat!

If you could sum up The Summoning in three words, what would they be?

heart-stopping, suprising, fun!

What other book might you compare The Summoning to and why?

It is very like Kelley Armstrongs other series The Calling/The Gathering. Both series keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you constantly checking back to see when the next book is coming out./

Have you listened to any of Cassandra Morris’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have never read anything of her's before but i feel she did wonderful in this. She truly captured the maine charactor and gave the others in the book great voices that were easy to follow and remember. She maintains this wonderful standered of naration threw all three books in this series.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the maine charactor started to really understand that she could not go back to her old life and that all had changed forever. she finds herself in this series but instead of in a corny way in a breath taking mix of thrills/frights and romance.

Any additional comments?

this book does have a liittle blood n frights but is not too harsh. if you want some fanticy and with a great plot get this. also try Armstrongs other two series because she won't disappoint.
