Publisher's summary

Nicholas Flamel appeared in J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter - but did you know he really lived? And his secrets aren't safe! Discover the truth in book three of the New York Times best-selling series the Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel.

The problem: Perenelle Flamel is trapped. What’s worse: Sophie and Josh might soon be as well.

Paris was destroyed by John Dee and Niccolo Machiavelli, but the missing pages of the Book of Abraham the Mage are still protected from Dee and the Dark Elders.

Except Perenelle is imprisoned on Alcatraz and now Scatty is missing, leaving a weakening Nicholas as Sophie and Josh's only protection in Lond, a city Dee has under his control.

The only hope of defeating Dee and escaping London is to find an Elder to teach the twins the third elemental magic - Water Magic. The bad news? The lone option is Gilgamesh the King, and he is absolutely insane.

The story is fantastic but…

The story is fantastic. My issue is with the production. The did the “chapter” splits with several actual chapters in each split so it is harder to find stopping points on shorter listen cycles. The change in reader between the books is also annoying as this reader mispronounced names like Hekate. I am of the belief that book series should be read by the same person or at the very least produced by the same person who can catch things like this.

Immortals Of America & Italy in a 1960 Thunderbird

In Book 3 of The Nicholas Flamel Saga “The Sorceress”, we begin to see Perenelle's multitude of Magical Strengths, Empathy, Vast Knowledge and Ages of Wisdom, along with such basic Cleverness, it's no wonder Elders want to keep her prisoner.

There are many Battles to be won and lost. Ancient Monsters arise from Centuries of Hibernation, while more Surprising Popular Historical figures show up!
Several astonishingly heartfelt exchanges occur amidst all of the Marauding.

I'm moving directly to Book 4.

Great but...

I hate it when they switch narrators in a series. It doesn't just change the voices; it alters the pronunciations, too. That said, the story is spectacular and I keep listening to it in spite of the irksome narrator change!

Excellent

Great read. I’ve read or reread the series at least five times. Book great for young adults as well as adults.

Love the story but struggled with the narrator.

Nothing against the narrator but there was to much ASMR lip smacking after every sentence and it takes me out of the story. I preferred the second narrator for book 2 but I’m so confused why we switched three times. Still the book is great, although book 2 remains my favorite so far.

Nice series of books

This series may or may not be intended for teenagers or the youth. It is a nice fun series. I am a seriously avid reader, and finish a novel per week. I picked up the first book in the series for my daughter. I ran out of books and picked it up. I have read all of them now. They are fun.
The series has characters that are well wrritten and believable. The goals and problems are very truthful. Michael Scott has to have or had a few teenagers because he has them down pretty well in the books.
Now don't think you are about to read a literary masterpiece but the stories have heart, soul, well planned themes and flow, and realistic well described characters. I love a good book and these are just that. GOOD BOOKS

Narrator is not as bad as everyone says...

I'm not quite done with this one, and while the narrator is NOT as good as the first two, he isn't as bad as I thought he was going to be based on the other reviews. He is a little stilted at times, but I did not find his accents to be horrible.

As far as the story goes itself, as I said, I'm not finished yet, but there is definitely a lot less action than in the first two books; a lot more (sort of) background and talking and waiting. I'm not giving up on the series yet, especially after the first two, but hopefully it will pick up.

Great book and series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

The story line is good and the author is always coming up with a new twist to surprise you.

Have you listened to any of Paul Boehmer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have been listening to the whole series at the gym. It makes the workout go by really fast.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, it is a reward to myself that I only get to listen to at the gym.
