Haunting and beautiful and wonderfully narrated.

That was INCREDIBLE. I loved everything about this story - the characters, the setting, the plot; all were just what I wanted.

If I had to name one complaint, it would be that the ending wasn't drawn out or complete enough, but then again, I'd probably want another entire novel's worth.

So, SO good. Five stars, a spot on my favorites list, and I will DEFINITELY be rereading this sometime soon.

The narration was flawless and really added an extra oomph to this story.

Stop everything and read this book!

This book has so many different layers. It is so rich with stories and sub themes that it is impossible to not be enthralled. The characters elevate this journey as they start with their own story and merge into a tale as wild as the horses that move us through each chapter.
The love story is beyond love- it elevates the the writing ( which needs no help). This kind of love makes a reader understand that the capacity to love is only as deep as one is true to themself. Beautiful!

Wonderful story, wonderful narration

I enjoyed this story so much! I literally listened around the clock it was just that engaging and exciting. The dual narration was perfect for this story. Each character was fully developed and I was cheering for both of them. The ending was all one could want for two beloved characters whose trials and tribulations we got to witness first hand as it were. Sadly, the other works by this author feature a narrator I do not prefer or have a story line with too much emphasis on romance. Since she is very prolific and since she occasionally does have UK narrators, I hope that I may one day find another one of her books to listen to.

A Lyrical Escape, Outstanding!

This fantastical tale was pure pleasure to listen to. The story was engaging, the characters well developed and likable, the description of setting and story were very well done. The narrators also did a great all-around job and were easy and enjoyable to listen to. Would definitely give a sequel or another book by the same author a read. Good for adults and YA alike.

Exciting seahorses

I choose to listen to this on audio and i am so glad i did that alternating points of view where easier to keep track of with the two different narrators telling the story. I also picked up this book as i heard their making a movie about and the whole concept of killer water horses is going to make a spectacular movie i believe. I love the descriptions of the land, and the horses, it truly was like a story being painted for me. A great book.

Very Interesting - in a GOOD way!

I bought this book long ago and tried to get into it...I failed. However, I tried again and I could not stop listening, it was very well done. Ms. Stiefvater is an amazing writer and I was very sad when the story was done. Impressive.

Gorgeous story & writing

This novel is a perfect combination of realism and magic; while set in the world we know, the primary landscape is one of man alongside harsh island conditions and even harsher beasts from the sea. Stiefvater blends lyricism with myth and a story of survival. The voice actors did their parts in bringing this story to life. Together, the audio book of The Scorpio Races is an unparalleled narrative.

Fantastic book! Amazing and different.

Really glad I downloaded this book. Thank you to all who praised it, so that I would chose to buy it. The characters had so much depth and purpose. I felt that I knew them and was experiencing what they were experiencing. The story was very imaginative and believable. I often questioned whether there really were "water horses" somewhere. Great choice of location for the story, very descriptive. Don't hesitate -- listen to this book.

Captivating

I loved this book. The writing was beautiful, the characters and the setting were perfectly realized and the story was compelling. There is a romance aspect to the story - but it is more subtle than in many other YA titles and I didn't find it overbearing.

The dual narrators do excellent jobs. I loved the ending sentences of this book, partly because of the writing but also in large part due to the narration.

This is the first book by this author that I have tried, and I am now going to go back and go through her back catalogue. Highly recommended.

Get this for the narration alone

A wonderful story (especially for horse-lovers) and the narration made it even better. Steve West and Fiona Hardingham brought the characters to life. One of my favorite audiobooks.
