Publisher's summary

Book two in the blockbuster Maze Runner series that spawned a movie franchise and ushered in a worldwide phenomenon! And don't miss The Fever Code, the highly-anticipated series conclusion that finally reveals the story of how the maze was built!

Thomas was sure that escape from the Maze would mean freedom for him and the Gladers. But WICKED isn't done yet. Phase Two has just begun. The Scorch.
The Gladers have two weeks to cross through the Scorch—the most burned-out section of the world. And WICKED has made sure to adjust the variables and stack the odds against them.
There are others now. Their survival depends on the Gladers' destruction—and they're determined to survive.
Friendships will be tested. Loyalties will be broken. All bets are off.

The Maze Runner and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials are now major motion pictures featuring the star of MTV's Teen Wolf, Dylan O'Brien; Kaya Scodelario; Aml Ameen; Will Poulter; and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. The third movie, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, will hit screens in 2018.

Great Book

This a very worthy sequel to the first book. It is a little bit faster paced, has more twists and turns and is all around a great read.

I will say that the story is VERY different from the movie. So for those of you who have watched the films, if you really liked the second film and think that the book will add further detail to the film don't expect it here. It will add further information but it will be very from from the film plot line.

Can't wait for the next installment! More twists!

Great continuation of the series. I love the character development. New challenges, scenarios and trials with more characters.
Keeps you guessing as to what is going on in the "real story" of the test subjects.

Solid and more intense

A step up from the first book. Great descriptions. Really feel like you're a character in the story. Very natural in the progression of the story.

Read at Your Own Risk!

Thomas and crew are yet again in the soup. In this second installment of the Maze Runner trilogy, they're expected to traverse an unwholesome place that is the domain of the 'Flare' infected and reach a rendezvous place within a prescribed amount of time.

At no point, do we doubt that they will achieve this outcome. Unfortunately, James Dashner doesn't think his reader is deserving of the why regarding these repeatedly calamitous occurrences. While I know it's dystopian and bad stuff can happen, it's really irritating to see the harm WICKED conveys and have you tell me "WICKED is good.' I shouldn't have to read your third book to get the insights you could have hinted at in books one and two. Be aware that a good story absent of a compelling conveyor isn't a great book to read.

Mark Deakins gave an audibly awesome performance using a sundry array of voices, pacing , intonations and volumes to convert the launch the words off the pages and into our ears!

Read The Scorch Trials at your own risk. Expect action and thrilling exchanges. Just don't expect answers.

Better than Maze Runner. A must read sequel.

This book was better than the first in the series. I was more attached to the characters and had a genuine interest to figure out where the story was heading before the characters figured it out.

If you like books where you only know as much as the characters and you try to piece things together, you'll love this one.

Movie was better

I found it hard to stay engaged enough to not stop listening and day dream. After watching the movie, the story actually made sense.
