Until the day I met John Smith, Number Four, I'd been on the run alone, hiding and fighting to stay alive.
Together, we are much more powerful. But it could only last so long before we had to separate to find the others....
I went to Spain to find Seven, and I found even more, including a tenth member of the Garde who escaped from Lorien alive. Ella is younger than the rest of us, but just as brave. Now we're looking for the others - including John.
But so are they.
They caught Number One in Malaysia.
Number Two in England.
And Number Three in Kenya.
They caught me in New York - but I escaped.
I am Number Six.
They want to finish what they started.
But they'll have to fight us first.

I think I liked "The Power of Six" better, but this was still an entertaining story. We received a little more insight into the characters' personalities and their respective legacies, in addition to meeting another gaurde member. The last half of the book was pretty action packed too.
The love triangle/square that formed during the second book took a back seat in book three. I think that whole angle was a little unbelievable when you threw Sam in there. I'm not quite sure if the story line is dead or might revive itself later, but it didn't really come to a head. Certainly not in typical teenage girl fashion. Overall it was a very good story and I'm excited for the release of book four.

I liked first two parts and I was eagerly waiting for this one. This series held such a promise and this guy managed to mess it up. book was fine until about last third where writer got lost in the story. The end..... I'm trying to think of the word that would describe it and I'm coming out blank. It's aweful. Ruined the whole thing even if you forget about messed up story.
Tell us about yourself! 70 yrs old, retired my son introd. me to audible and Im thrilled. Now live in small town in Kansas.
Enjoyed the plot and the gathering. The recordings that were taged on the end were hokie. I'll wait to read the next two and how many books will it take to end the story? I'll see if there is another book #6 the reviews on book 5's ending are not encouraging. If that is the last book in the series I'll stop now
The story starts off right where the last one ended. Thankfully nothing was left out. I loved the addition of new characters and guard members. The Moag leader is a real coward. I think he knows he will not win the war so he, in my opinion, cheats. The guards final decision to regroup is smart. The narrators are brilliant and I'm glad make doesn't have to read all of the girls parts and visa versa. Great job! Now on to the next one!
Someone who is okay with (nearly) all the minor characters being killed off.
Followed a path in which all/most of the minor characters don't die. Every scene in which someone might die, it was easy to say, "Well, guess it will be whoever isn't part of the guard." It made it feel like the first few books were all about getting the guard together while also killing off all the cepans.
Yes, voice changes made it very easy to know which character was speaking.
It had its bright moments, for sure, and the overall idea is a good one, but individual scene execution and some piece of plot just don't fit. They break away from the rules of the established story-universe.
And what's up with the story title? In which way does nine "rise"? The more I read in the series, the more I thought, "That doesn't really make sense. So, did the authors just choose it because it sounds cool, regardless of how it fit within the story?"
The story itself seemed lost until the end. The characters were either whining or too full of bravado to be sympathetic. It pulled itself together in the end
Performance was good...the different voices the narrators use for the different characters keeps you in the story and able to follow along.
