Publisher's summary

Book one in the blockbuster Maze Runner series that spawned a movie franchise and ushered in a worldwide phenomenon! And don’t miss The Fever Code, the highly-anticipated series conclusion that finally reveals the story of how the maze was built! When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his name. He’s surrounded by strangers - boys whose memories are also gone.

Outside the towering stone walls that surround them is a limitless, ever-changing maze. It’s the only way out - and no one’s ever made it through alive. Then a girl arrives. The first girl ever. And the message she delivers is terrifying: Remember. Survive. Run.

The Maze Runner and Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, and Maze Runner: The Death Cure all are now major motion pictures featuring the star of MTV's Teen Wolf, Dylan O’Brien; Kaya Scodelario; Aml Ameen; Will Poulter; and Thomas Brodie-Sangster.

ok, but not compelling.

Definitely not in the level of Hunger Games or Divergent. The movie was more exciting.

One of my favorites!

It's a great book, and way better than the movie. The narrator does an excellent job reading the book and portraying the characters.

It's Exactly What it Sounds Like.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Think of the most basic plot you can imagine about running around a maze. Okay, now you know the storyline.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Hmm, the most interesting aspect of the story? Well that would be finding out it was actually written by a 5th grader.

The least interesting aspect? That would be the whole story.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene? The one that I saw coming from a mile away...wait!... Maybe I wrote this story when I was a child and someone stole it and made it into a book?!

Could you see The Maze Runner being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

It is a movie and I must see it now to confirm if it alines with a short film I made in 7th grade.

Any additional comments?

I might need to find some good lawyers in the near future.

HONESTLY... it's not THAT bad of a book... but it wasn't very suspenseful and was a little too outlandish when it tried to be creative.

Great book, narrator was cheesy

Did Mark Deakins do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Any additional comments?

This was my first audio book, the story was great, much better then the movie... The narrator seemed cheesy to me. I had a hard time getting into the book at first because he seemed like he was telling a story to a small child. I know this book is considered "Teen" acceptable, but there is a lot of death and monsters, it sounds like hes telling a story about ponies and rainbows.

I haven't read the book yet delete review

I have not read the book but my touch screen was prompt marking stars as I do not want to negatively impact the book I gave the average rating though I doubt that's what it will get after I read it, audible needs to improve their touch screen sensitivity and the ability to remove unintended ratings.

Entertaining but

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

This is an entertaining listen, but I wouldn't recommend it. It is too predictable.

Best Adventure I've read in Ages!

I didn't think I'd like this book in the beginning as it started out so vague and confusing but as it went on the vagueness and confusion just made me understand the main character more and what he was going through in this new environment. The supporting characters were very interesting too and the monsters and the description of the maze was intriguing. I wasn't able to stop listening to this once I started and brainwashed myself listening to it in a full day. Then I had to re-listen the next day to grasp what I'd read as there were parts I wanted to hear again. I wish there was another book describing the Glade and the Maze and the experiences these characters had there. Even the way the author described the food made me hungry. Really good read and now I feel unable to find anything as good as this so I'm in withdrawal!

Writing very YA. Interesting story, but....

Characters and premise were interesting, but this story was definitely written for an early teen or younger group. I found it hard to stay engaged, even though the narration was fine. I won't be listening to the rest of this series, even though I'd like to know where the story goes.

Quick paced mystery

I saw the movie first, and I still like the book better. This book was hard to put down. The characters were well fleshed out. The narrator read with feeling. His voice brought you into the action. This a great action/ science fiction book.
