Publisher's summary

Using a cutting-edge technology called DHI - which stands for both Disney Host Interactive and Daylight Hologram Imaging - Finn Whitman, an Orlando teen, and four other kids are transformed into hologram projections that guide guests through the park.

The new technology turns out, however, to have unexpected effects that are both thrilling and scary. Soon Finn finds himself transported in his DHI form into the Magic Kingdom at night. Is it real? Is he dreaming?

Finn’s confusion only increases when he encounters Wayne, an elderly Imagineer who tells him that the park is in grave danger. Led by the scheming witch, Maleficent, a mysterious group of characters called the Overtakers is plotting to destroy Disney’s beloved realm, and maybe more.

This gripping high-tech tale will thrill every kid who has ever dreamed of sneaking into Walt Disney World after hours and wondered what happens at night, when the park is closed.

Love this story

I am a huge fan of Disney. This brings back all the magic of Disney. The narrator is horrid with kids voices.

Interesting, voice distracting, slightlydisturbing

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, interesting, but some disturbing scenes. Not for little Disney fans.

How could the performance have been better?

The voice for the main character is poorly done. They sound like voices you'd use for bullies/jerks. Next book was better.

Any additional comments?

It's really cool in that it mentions real places. But I like the voice acting better in later books in the series.

Great Series for Family Trips

Would you listen to The Kingdom Keepers again? Why?

We have a 12, 9, and 8 yr old and they all enjoy this series. My oldest had read the book and suggested it for our car trip story.
We have been to Disneyworld before and they really enjoyed "getting" the settings in the book as well and learning new aspects of the park.

How could the performance have been better?

The issue we had with this audiobook was the narrator. His voices for the female characters made me cringe. My kids were laughing at the way he was talking as well even when it was not supposed to be funny. It took away from the story.
Book Two has a different narrator, but so does book three.

Any additional comments?

We buy the paper books as well as the audio books with this series. Lots of fun!

The author did great research to make the settings really come to life.

Alright for kids probably

The inconsistencies in the characters... *shivers* Several issues, the most annoying is regarding Maleficent. She is NOT a witch! She's an evil fairy! The original story of Sleeping Beauty makes it clear the villain is a fairy. The Disney version makes it clear she's a fairy not a witch!

Beyond that there's inconsistencies with the original characters as well. I won't go into detail because I don't want to give anything away. I'm willing to suspend my belief. But if something is set as possible within the book then it should be consistently possible. Especially within the same scene!

And what happened to the good Disney characters that showed up in the sample? Why weren't they helping? They didn't even show up after the first chapter!

The ending is an ending and yet it leaves you hanging. Even in a series I like for each book to have a REAL ending. This one leaves too many questions.

All in all a real letdown.

New to Kingdom Keepers

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending left open questions. I guess the author was expecting this to be a series

Any additional comments?

I started reading this because my wife and boys liked the print version. It is definitely light listening. Don't expect the details to match the Disney parks exactly. In the same way that the technology is fictional, the author also takes liberties with the location.

Enjoyed re-listining to a book from childhood!

I read this book when I was younger and enjoyed it then. It’s definitely a book meant for tweens but nonetheless still enjoyed it now!
