Publisher's summary

At the conclusion of The Mark of Athena, Annabeth and Percy tumble into a pit leading straight to the Underworld. The other five demigods have to put aside their grief and follow Percy's instructions to find the mortal side of the Doors of Death. If they can fight their way through the Gaea's forces, and Percy and Annabeth can survive the House of Hades, then the Seven will be able to seal the Doors from both sides and prevent the giants from raising Gaea. But, Leo wonders, if the Doors are sealed, how will Percy and Annabeth be able to escape?

They have no choice. If the demigods don't succeed, Gaea's armies will never die. They have no time. In about a month, the Romans will march on Camp Half-Blood. The stakes are higher than ever in this adventure that dives into the depths of Tartarus.

Percy Jackson is the eponymous hero of the best-selling Percy Jackson and the Olympians series by Rick Riordan. He made his debut in The Lightning Thief at just 12 years old, where he discovered the shocking truth about his parentage: He is a demigod, the son of a mortal woman and the god Poseidon. Beyond his own series, he was one of the protagonists in the Heroes of Olympus series and has since appeared in other spin-off novels and series from Riordan.

I like the story but...

I am not thrilled with the narrator. The narrator's voices are not accurate and sound too similar, even cross gendera.

SWITCHING THE NARRATOR ALMOST RUINED THE BOOK!!

Would you listen to The House of Hades again? Why?

No, because the narrator was so bad compared to the narrator of the first three books of the series. His voices for the characters made them sound so stupid and when he is not doing voices his regular voice has extreme vocal fry that drives me up a wall. I miss the original narrator :(

Who was your favorite character and why?

Leo Valdez.. I already love the fact that he is the comic relief and his story is amazing, but adding the relationship between him and Calypso was a great addition to his story.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Narrator was awful.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Bob and the peaceful giant stood up to their creator to save Percy and Anabeth. Bob and little Bob are amazing!

Any additional comments?

Don't ever switch up a narrator mid series. Don't ever use a narrator with such bad vocal fry. Don't ever use a narrator that has the voice of a valley girl. Don't ever hire this narrator again!

Its... A Draw

If you could sum up The House of Hades in three words, what would they be?

Love The Story

What did you like best about this story?

I really just love the plot line of the story. I think its really great that we actually get to explore two other new aspects of the "Percy Jackson" series that we haven't explored before, the first one being the fact that we can explore tartarus that has been previously mentioned a few times and the second being the Mist. I really love the fact that we bring back some of Percy's old enemies... speaking of enemies I can't believe we also come back to an old character who I loved.

What does Nick Chamian bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I think he really does Leo's voice really well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I though I was going to cry at the end. Bob... he is a character that took my heart. I really want to see Bob in another novel.

Any additional comments?

I think he does an alright job, I really do enjoy his Leo voice, he's also alright with Frank. I must admit I think he's a bit weak at the girl's voices. I think Annabeth is a rather weak voice which bothered me the first time around but not so much anymore.

wonderful landscape

fantastic as always, but I do not like when narrators are changed out halfway through a series. the new narrator did a decent job though.
