Publisher's summary

The second thrilling installment in Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy spinoff series.

Tough, brainy alchemist Sydney Sage and doe-eyed Moroi princess Jill Dragomir are in hiding at a human boarding school in the sunny, glamorous world of Palm Springs, California. The students - children of the wealthy and powerful - carry on with their lives in blissful ignorance, while Sydney, Jill, Eddie, and Adrian must do everything in their power to keep their secret safe. But with forbidden romances, unexpected spirit bonds, and the threat of Strigoi moving ever closer, hiding the truth is harder than anyone thought.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, Richelle Mead's breathtaking Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles, and betrayals that made the number-one New York Times best-selling Vampire Academy series so addictive. In this second book, the drama is hotter, the romances are steamier, and the stakes are even higher.

A lot happened!

These are pretty good books! I miss Rose and Lissa but otherwise it’s awesome to see more of what’s out there in their worlds.. I feel bad for Adrian. He keeps picking women he can never have.. his poor mom too.. wondering what is going to happen next!

A great sequel to the Vampire Academy series

I love that this series continues where Vampire academy left off. Adrian was one of my favorites and I’m glad he’s back with his own story.

Love, love, love Richelle Mead

Where does The Golden Lily rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks in the top five. I love Richelle Mead's original series where Sidney was introduced, so this was a natural follow up. I think the story is better in these books, though. Or at least I like Sidney better than Rose, I think.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Golden Lily?

Can't tell you, it would spoil the fun.

What about Emily Shaffer’s performance did you like?

Love how she was able to transition from all the different accents, and characters so smoothly. She really did a great job. And I love how she was able to give voice to Sidney's exasperation!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Alchemical Lily turns Desert Gold.....I don't know, not very good at this

Loved it!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Golden Lily to be better than the print version?

I really love this series and storyline that Richelle Mead has come up with. Im really glad she wrote a spin off series talking about Sydney and some of the other minor/major characters. Listening to it at first i had a hard time listening to it but then i got use to the narrator. I did absolutely loved how she portrayed Adrian in the series.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene actually is when Adrian finally admitted he liked Sydney to her but im a little anxious to see how it turns out in the next book because she denies it because of what she was taught but in all honestly i dont think shes going to be able to ignore it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Great book, not so good narrator

I've read and reread this book a million times, but struggled to listen to it. The narration was good, but the voices, at least some of them, were bad. Adrian's voice was terrible and it left me wondering if I'd even be able to listen to some of the latter books in the series that are told from his perspective. the book itself is really good and the story only gets better from here.

Great addition to the "Vampire Academy" world!

I think "The Golden Lily" is a lovely book. It is well-written, moves the major story arcs along nicely, and is enormously entertaining. "The Vampire Academy" series started my YA crush ... I read those six books back-to-back-to-back, finished and said, "Please, ma'am, may I have another?" I wasn't so sure about Sydney as the first-person narrator for this second series in that world, but SHE. IS. PERFECT. Really perfect. I *love* Sydney. She is such a contrast to Rose, the narrator of the first series, and it is an excellent juxtaposition. Rose was wild, impulsive, a rebel in every sense of the word. Sydney is controlled, follows the rules, values order and discipline, and is proper in every sense of the word. And we are watching her blossom like a flower.

In this book, we get to see Sydney start to question the very fundamental values that her world view is based upon. We get to watch her (and a few other characters) begin to explore the notion of love and romance. And we get introduced to a whole new faction in the Moroi/Dhampir/Alchemist world. I loved every minute of this book. And since I listened to this as an audiobook, I should add that Emily Shaffer, the narrator, does a truly fantastic job bringing the characters to life. (The original series went through a couple of narrator changes, which I found very frustrating. I am so glad they have settled on Shaffer, who does great work!)

There are very few series in the YA world that I could think to recommend more highly than this one.
