"Darkness is a tricky thing. Especially when it cloaks itself in light."
Luka isn't dead. He's not beyond saving. Tess knows because she saw him with her own eyes. After what she saw, she's sure of one thing: If they don't rescue him soon, Luka won't be Luka anymore.
If only she could convince the other members of the hub. They're not sure Tess saw what she claims she saw. And they're preoccupied by the fact that their kind is being systematically eradicated. Answers lie in an ancient prophecy, one that revolves around a 17-year-old girl who never asked for any of this.

Really enjoyed all three books! It's well paced, and the conflicts with internal and external are believably explained.
Narration was amazing. truly enjoyed the narrator!
The entire series is very engaging, and the story isn't your typical vampires and werewolves teen fiction. I enjoyed it and cried like a baby at the end, but the main character was a little annoying with her lack of self confidence, self esteem, and penchant for self deprecating whining. As a former teenage bookworm I can attest to the influence of our written heroines and heroes. They are our peers, teaching us how to act and think about life and ourselves (like the living peers of those teenagers not inclined to hole up in books). For this series I would feel differently if the character grew and finally embraced herself, but that didn't really happen or at least it was wishy washy at best. So, unfortunately this particular heroine could have a negative impact on a young reader's psyche already taught by society to be insecure.
I have never listened to an audio book before, but I loved this series and figured this was a great one to try. And I loved it! The narration is wonderful and Heather Masters does an excellent job bringing the various characters to life. I really enjoyed hearing some of the accents, too. I will definitely be purchasing the other audio books in this series so I can enjoy them as well. Now for the book... The Gifting trilogy is amazing, filled with realistic characters whose growth is illuminated in this final installment as they come full circle. The Gathering is jam-packed with excitement, suspense, betrayal, loss, love, and sacrifice. The writing is beautiful and powerful, every word evoking so much emotion that it is hard to move on and remember that these characters are fictional. I love Tess, Luka, and Link. I have laughed and cried with them throughout their journey. I'm sad that it's over. I'm sad that I have to say goodbye. But, I will see them again whenever I open up one of these books, jumping right back into their lives and story wherever I happen to open the book up to. (Or start the audio!) Because the books and characters are just that good and that real. This trilogy has jerked my emotions more than any other series to date and will forever hold a special place in my heart.
The final book in The Gifting Series is super good! A bit to much kissing for me but the overall story was very intriguing.
Tess Eckhart is finally realizing that she is the prophecy and she doesn't like it nor does Luka Williams her Keeper.
After everybody at the hub puts their lives on the line in rescuing Luka from the evil side and losing one of their own in the process cause them to scatter to find answers. Meeting up in Newport proves to be a challenge for the gifting and somehow the cops seem to know where they are. Is one of their own giving them away and how come Luka can't protect Tess anymore? Will the Gifting be stopped by Scarface and his goons or will Tess figure the prophecy out in time?
