Emily Shaffer

Man o man! Why couldn't Emily Shaffer have narrated the entire series?? She's really grown on me and captures the characters well. I enjoyed this book far more than the other gals narrations!

loved it!

I really enjoyed the whole series so far. I'm glad they brought the girl that does the different accents and different voices for the characters

Great Book

Richelle Mead does it again. Great series and great book. Emily Shaffer does a wonderful job narrating. Through her you can tell the characters are maturing and they don't still have the young and squeaky sounding voices. I love her accents for all the different people. Adrian's is not my favorite, but not to bad. The story is very good with lots of surprises, including the ending. I can't wait for the next installment.

Nice Story Line and Plot

I read these when I was younger and never finished the series and was looking for more options in audiobooks (was using libraries). I like to have books playing in the car while I drive. So I re “read” them. Just as cute as they were before and I am glad I finished the series finally. It IS YA that’s for sure! Wish they had a series like this with adult MC’s and spice. But it was good.

Very Good Want More

As usual Richelle Mead does not disappoint. It was a smooth transition from the last book and she left me wanting more and more... Ah how long before the next book!!!

Exactly What You'd Expect

Another solid installment in a light, fun, good series that is well-narrated. I like books like this that are easier to digest while gasping for air on the treadmill or fighting crazy New Jersey drivers in traffic. This series is very solid and improves from beginning to end. I'd essentially give it 3.5 stars for story and overall, but bumped it to an average of 4 because it is one of the better installments in the series and the narration is so solid.

Won me over

Any additional comments?

I don't like where the story is going just because I love these characters so much, but I am still enjoying the story. Emily's voice has grown on me. I think she toned down Dimitri's accent (Thank God) now if she can work on Abe's that would be awesome. She does a good job overall. I'm sad that the next book is the last though. I will miss this cast of characters. I enjoyed this book and the series. Would and will recommend to a friend.

Spirit Bound

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would reccommend it simply because it is a great book and the narration is clear and understandable set with an easy pace.

What did you like best about this story?

I just love Rose's sarcasm. All throughout the series her sarcasm makes me smile. I also enjoyed the character development that Lissa goes through; before she was weak and selfish. In this installment to the series she did something for Rose of her own will even after Rose told her not to because she knew Rose needed it. I think their friendship progressed to a more balanced relationship rather than the one sided relationshp it had seemed to be for a while.

Which scene was your favorite?

Not really a scene but within the first couple of pages Rose reads a letter from Dimitri. That letter made me laugh so hard. Probably my favorite part of this book aside from the ending result with Dimitri.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Mikhail's involvement in getting Rose, Lissa and Eddie out of Court was heart breaking. He let Rose go because of the similarities they shared concerning their now Strigoi loved ones. Later, Mikhail says he knew Spirit makes the user's more alluring but he swore she didn't need it, she was beautiful on his own.
It has been years for their love to possibly fade yet he is still as in love with her as ever, enough to let Rose get away with what she did. Mikhail is a favorite character of mine now.

Any additional comments?

I didn't think for the first half Emily Shaffer was adequatley representing Rose's attitude, particularly the sarcasm. The latter half was better in tune with Rose's character. Her voices for many of the side characters seemed the same and too loud, as if they were talking across a room rather than to someone near them.
Emily Shaffer did really well with Lissa's voice, however.
