Publisher's summary

Thrown into solitary confinement for his failed escape attempt from furnace prison, Alex Sawyer struggles not to let the hellish pitch-black silence overwhelm him. Before another escape attempt is even possible, he must first survive the nightmare that now haunts his endless nights. Because the hole doesn’t need monsters to do its dirty work — not the usual brutes in black suits and their silver-eyed, fleshless hounds, or wheezing freaks with filthy syringes. All it needs is Alex and his own fears, now that he’s seen firsthand the terrible fate awaiting him and his mates in Furnace’s secret tunnels and labs.

In solitary, Alexander Gordon Smith takes us still deeper into the terrifying underground world of Furnace Penitentiary. Listeners will hurtle from thrill to chill in this rocket-paced prison-break odyssey where nightmares are made.

Also listen to the first book, Lockdown.

Boring and repetitive

I found the story predictable, boring and pointless. It's about being stuck in a prison, but it made me feel like I was the prisoner, trapped to read this book for an English project. Not worth my time.

stunning and seat gripping

I loved this series. it's my third time going through it. it's so hard to stop reading, the voice actor just immerses you and it's a wild ride worth taking!

Good Second Book

Nice continuation of the story. I'm enjoying this series because it doesn't have plot holes or an over emphasis on any one aspect. The author has good balance.

Pretty good but the performance was lacking

I really enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the next but the voice actor just throws everything off in my opinion. You get use to it but not the best I've heard.

I’m over this series

I want to like this series but I just don’t. Honestly I can’t understand why it’s gotten such high ratings. I guess if your a pre-teen looking for YA horror this may float your boat but even then this book is not really anything to write home about. The first book in the series was something unique and interesting. This one was boring and took place 98% in solitary confinement. I’m over it. I don’t care about Alex. I don’t care about Zee. I don’t care they their escape attempts keep getting fouled and I don’t care that they’re surrounded by monsters. The only person I even remotely cared about was Donovan and I’m over him too. Done. Done. And done. 1 star.
