Publisher's summary

When tragedy strikes close to home, Mickey Bolitar and his loyal new friends - sharp-witted Ema and the adorkably charming Spoon - find themselves at the center of a murder mystery involving their friend Rachel. Now, not only does Mickey have to continue his quest to uncover the truth about the Abeona Shelter and the Butcher of Lodz, he needs to figure out what happened to Rachel - no matter what it takes.

Mickey has always been ready to sacrifice everything to help the people he loves. But how can he protect them when he’s not even sure who - or what - he’s protecting them from?

Love this series

I listened to the first Mickey Bolitar book & enjoyed it so much that I hated for it to end. Then I found out there are 3 books!!! This one was great also & the narrator is fantastic. I stayed til 2:30am to finish it. I’m going to sleep before I start the 3rd book. I do hope Harlan Coben writes more with these characters. So much is revealed in this book & it has a slight twist at the end. LOVED IT!!!!

Alright, easy listen and/or read

Would you try another book from Harlan Coben and/or Nick Podehl?

I would try another book. In fact i have one of his paperbacks my nanny gave me that sounds better than both of the books in this series.

If you’ve listened to books by Harlan Coben before, how does this one compare?

ive only read the first book in this series by him. So i havent not heard anything else or read anything else of his.

Did Nick Podehl do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I think he did. There were a lot of young characters in the book that i think he tackled the attitudes just right on.

Did Seconds Away inspire you to do anything?

Not really lol

Any additional comments?

I LIKED it. I did not love it. Keep my interest though. I listen while i walk and jog. I never once found myself not connected to drifting into my own mind while listening. Which is so easy to do while running or walking. Esp bringing along you child. Just not as much excitement as i thought there would be. But i did like it.

I want

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend people listening to this book, because it's exciting and fun.
However, it doesn't feel "real", and compared to other books by Harlan, this falls short.

Any additional comments?

Something I don't like is all the "humble brag", that revolves around Mickey Bolitar.

Great Listen!

What made the experience of listening to Seconds Away the most enjoyable?

I like how it picked up right where "Shelter " left off and yet, if had not listened to "Shelter first, you weren't really in the dark. The narrator is great!

What did you like best about this story?

The development of the characters

What does Nick Podehl bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He was excellent! You knew exactly who was speaking.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Toward to end of the book with Mickey and Myron...don't want to give anything away, like some people do when they review...hint, hint!

Any additional comments?

To the person who gave this like 1 star...really? This is a book written for young adults, much like "The Hunger Games" or the "Twilight" series. Keep that in mind before you diss a book! I'm 59 and loved it!!
