When tragedy strikes close to home, Mickey Bolitar and his loyal new friends - sharp-witted Ema and the adorkably charming Spoon - find themselves at the center of a murder mystery involving their friend Rachel. Now, not only does Mickey have to continue his quest to uncover the truth about the Abeona Shelter and the Butcher of Lodz, he needs to figure out what happened to Rachel - no matter what it takes.
Mickey has always been ready to sacrifice everything to help the people he loves. But how can he protect them when he’s not even sure who - or what - he’s protecting them from?

A very strange story line. I have always thoroughly loved Harlan Coben's books. This one, not so. Had the kind of ending I so dislike, leaving you wondering why you kept reading, too many unanswered questions. No completion to story. Would recommend people pass in this book.
Most of this book is reiterating book one. As you get further in this book it starts repeating bits and pieces of the beginning of the book.
The story had multiple sub plots all of which were interesting and added to the excitement. And there was lots of excitement.
Too many to list. I could not stop listening.
The voices were perfect! Brought the characters to life.
I would recommend people listening to this book, because it's exciting and fun.
However, it doesn't feel "real", and compared to other books by Harlan, this falls short.
Something I don't like is all the "humble brag", that revolves around Mickey Bolitar.
I am an avid reader! (Zombie and YA mainly) I am pretty much depressed if I don't constantly have a good read lined up!
Coben does not let me down in this next book of the Mickey Bolitar series! We get to know Ema and Spoon more in this book which is so enjoyable! The crime plot is much more simple in this book less twists and turns but I enjoyed that bc it seems more realistic after the craziness in the last book! Coben has be laugh out loud as usual for all his books. Mickey is so stinking likeable!! These are easy reads but only because they are extremely well written not bc they are YA. This series is fast paced each chapter keeps you enthralled and never bored!!

The first book in this series was "Shelter," and was a promising start to the series. This 2nd was a let down. The mystery and twists were still there, but the plot just felt far less believable. I'll end up reading the 3rd book to give the series another chance, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it goes better than this.
Love this story! Some of his better work. I couldn't help being transported back to high school with this superb writing. Love the character spoon. Highly recommend this for any fan of this author.
