Publisher's summary

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the best-selling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison - even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life.

When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner.

Exciting read!

I enjoyed the character development of each main character. I was glad to see a continuation of Cinder's story and can't wait to read what happens next.

Red heads rule!

Would you listen to Scarlet again? Why?

Well probably not. There are pretty much endless books for me to read and listen to, so I don't know if I would use my time listening to something I've already heard.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked all the stuff with the Lunars. I'm still trying to figure it all out. And I loved Scarlett. She was badass.

Which character – as performed by Rebecca Soler – was your favorite?

All the French characters. And Cinder, of course. And the ex-con she met up with, whatever his name was. He was pretty hilarious.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I might have wanted to, but no one has time for that.

Any additional comments?

An excellent followup. Sometimes sequels aren't as good, but this book was pretty darn awesome.

Another winner in this fantastic series

Not as good as the first one but still worth listening to for eleven hours. I can see how this was loosely based off the fairy tale red riding hood but it was mostly reminiscent of all the paranormal fantasies with romance and wolves in it I've listened to in the past. The continuation of Cinders story really kept me fascinated with this story though. This writer was really good. She was able to switch back between Scarlett's and Cinder's situations well. The stories were intertwined in a way that made me feel that neither scarlet or cinder were secondary characters.

Original Intersting twist on fairy tales

Would you consider the audio edition of Scarlet to be better than the print version?

Probably I don't get a lot of time to sit down and read this is more a book I would listen to as I chores

What other book might you compare Scarlet to and why?

It is like the Hunger Games series a girl having to realise that there is more to life than her life and you need to stand up

Which scene was your favorite?

My favourite scenes are with Lin Cinder & Thorn he is such a Han Solo type character but not in a copy cat way. I also like the Cinder & Iko dynamic especially the last scene and the there last conversation.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No it was just a story.

Any additional comments?

I didn't really like the Scarlett & Wolf relationship it was too intense too soon.

Great companion to Cinder

Although somewhat predictable, I did like this second book in the series. I am looking forward to the third book. My only regret is that I came upon this series before all the books were completed. Now I have to wait!

Was expecting to be let down after first book

Any additional comments?

I had no problems with the addition of Wolf and Scarlet-it was another twist on an old favorite (little red riding hood and the wolf) while keeping up with our beloved Cinder. Fell in love with these two just as much as Cinder. And just towards the end of the book we see that Rapunzel is going to play a part in book 3 as Cress which is a fun mash up of different classic story characters.
