Publisher's summary

Multiple Bram Stoker Award-winning author Jonathan Maberry’s Rot & Ruin is his debut work for young readers. Fifteen-year-old Benny Imura lives in a world infested with zombies where, when a kid turns 15, he must get a job to continue receiving food rations. Benny has no interest in the family business of zombie killing, but figures he doesn’t have much of a choice. He’s tried out a bunch of other jobs, and hasn’t found anything he likes. But as Benny starts training with his brother, he learns things about being human that he never expected.

Rot & Ruin

Pretty good story. Not gory or scary like the title lead me to believe. I gave it three stars because I liked it but it was not one of those books that I just could not put down. It merits a read and would be a good book for young adult boys. Kind of a coming of age, brotherly relationship kind of story.

The beginning of a great series!!!

As always, Mr Maberry delivers. The book is action packed from the start and keeps pace right to the end. The story of the sons of Echo Team's Sam Imura after Lucifer 113 gets off the leash on first night. The way the author brings all the different story chains together is fascinating.

Exciting & heartbreaking at the same time.

I loved the story. it was heartbreaking and exciting all at the same time. my only problem is the narrator. I don't care for him much. he is very monotone in the way he reads it. and their is lit to no definition between characters making it hard to follow sometimes. It just felt lacking. like when a character was mad or sad or yelling out whispering. it all sounded the same. I wish ray porter read it instead. he is amazing. but still very good I enjoyed it regardless. will continue with the series.

Rot and Ruin

I am a big Joe Ledger fan so decided to give this story a chance. Is a good story but the characters are underdeveloped mainly Sam. Even is supposed be a teen book anyone can enjoy it.
The narrators is very good but 1 or 2 voices sounded off.
This said I recommend this book, is not Joe Ledger but is a good listening and I bet you will like it

FAVORITE BOOK SERIES ALONG WITH JOE LEDGER

If you are looking for the perfect series with drastic character development, and a sarcastically funny badass, look no further. I’m 15, I started reading this series earlier this year, I read A LOT and this is now my favorite book series. I love all of Johnathan Maberry’s work, I also loved the Rot and Ruin series, I wish I could give this series 10000000 stars because Maberry’s writing was so awesome I fully experienced the story alongside Joe Ledger. The characters are well crafted, and the story is action packed. Never a dull moment and a few laughs. Keep on writing! :)
