Publisher's summary

After leaving Society and desperately searching for the Rising - and each other - Cassia and Ky have found what they were looking for, but at the cost of losing each other yet again: Cassia has been assigned to work for the Rising from within Society, while Ky has been stationed outside its borders. But nothing is as predicted, and all too soon the veil lifts and things shift once again.

In this gripping conclusion to the number-one New York Times-best-selling Matched Trilogy, Cassia will reconcile the difficulties of challenging a life too confining, seeking a freedom she never dreamed possible, and honoring a love she cannot live without.

Beautiful, Breathtaking & Worthwhile

If I had known what the end of this story held I would have finished it sooner!

Not horrible, but not great

I enjoyed the first book, the second was ok, and really had me wanting this one to be better to wrap it all up. I enjoyed the performances as they helped get me through it, but I was a bit disappointed in the story. Sometimes I'd crack up a little at the voices the actors made, but they did a good job for such a long winded story that I felt was lacking something. I feel the author is a talented writer overall but wished for less words and more spark to end it all. I started and got part way through in January 2020 and was so bored I finally took a break for other books. Then the actual pandemic hit in reality and I had no interest in listening for a while because this book is nothing but plague and sickness trying to be cured--a little too close to home. That being said, I finished it because I bought it and I have reading goals to hit this year. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't great.

Good story hard to listen too

One of main guys voice very winey sounding. Found myself making fun of how he said the main girls name all heartbroken and emotional...every time. Good story but felt the love triangle went on a little long. Still good enough story to push through the voices. Xander's voice was the best.

Enjoyed the first two, but

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Yes, The series was enjoyable and you can't leave a story unfinished, but I wish it was a bit better written.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The last book dragged out, the first two were wonderfully written and even had a couple surprises and twists. The 3rd book did not, it kinda just went through the motions. I did enjoy having all 3 perspectives.

Do you think Reached needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

no, I think the story is done

Flat Ending

I like the first two books. I feel like the third one was just kind of put together for convenience. I really would have liked to see the series as more than just three books. I think the last book could have been several books and further developed and explored the relationship/ friendship between Xander and Cassia. I would have liked to have seen more detail and a longer timeline with taking down the society and the difficult details that followed. I really liked Xander's character and would have enjoyed a whole book that explored what it was like for Cassia and Xander to be spies in the society before it was taken down. I would have liked to see a bigger struggle for Cassia in her decision on which boy to choose.
As for the readers, they were pretty much just readers. This is an older book and the voice acting doesn't reach the standard that has become more commonplace in the 2020s with greater, skilled performances.

A bit of a disappointment...

I loved Matched and Crossed (the first two books in this trilogy). I couldn't wait for Reached to be published. Once I was able to listen to it, I felt let down. The story seems to drag on while we wait for the inevitable conclusion that happens at the very end. The narrators were wonderful though! I enjoyed their performances.

Wasn't sure at first, but then...

The first book was decent. The second book was pretty good. The third book was awesome. I really enjoyed this series. The reader had an annoying voice but I got over that pretty quickly.

Ok story, too much whispered poetry

after reading the other 2 books I had to finish the trilogy. but by the 3rd book all the whispered narration and repetitive poetry starts to annoy the listener.
