The only bad thing about the story was that it traveled on a little long but other then that it was a great way to end the series I miss it already! 😭

"Wasn't sure at first, but then..."

The first book was decent. The second book was pretty good. The third book was awesome. I really enjoyed this series. The reader had an annoying voice but I got over that pretty quickly.

    "Good and bad"

The music took away from the story. I hated the added music. As for a YA novel though, It was good and made you think a lot. Makes you thankful for your freedoms in our society. I will definitely read this again and hopefully it will become a move too :) but the music was the worst.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Sure...I have to disagree with some of the other negative reviews I read, especially the ones advising not to "waste a credit" on this book. This is after all, a series written for a younger audience, so of course the pace is different. I thought the narrators did a nice job, and I disagree with those that felt Ky "whined"....he was deliriously ill after all....

Who was your favorite character and why?

    No favorite

    Which scene was your favorite?

    no favorite

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I listen 24/7, over and over, but yes, this one held my interest.

This series is pretty boring. All three books are twice as long as necessary. I tend to finish what I start but it was really hard to finish these books.

Don't waste your time. I got ove half way through this book and realized that I just don't care what happens. The writing is so poor. Through the course of three books the author has failed to develop antagonist and the "love triangle" is and continues to be completely forced and unbelievable. Save your credits and your time...

"Finished the whole series but not sure why...."
Would you try another book from Ally Condie and/or Jack Riccobono?

    Maybe, depends on the story.

Has Reached turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, it was just more boring then others I have read like it.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

I like the different voices in the performance.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No really redeeming qualities, way more boring than I thought it would be. Book 3 was a bit better than the other two.

    Any additional comments?

If you like the genre, you might find this to be very boring.

"Not bad, but I felt it could have been better."

I really liked the first book Matched the best. The story was from a single point of view of Cassia and it was full of mystery of a futuristic dystopian society. The second book Crossed started to break off into other's point of view and they brought in dual narration. I feel the problem breaking off into multiple point of characters views is that one looses the sense of being a character in the book, it looses the intimacy of the first person reader and turns the reader into a third person observer. The same multiple character continued in Reached, which again turned the reader into an observer instead of part of the story. My second complaint is that the author got a little too descriptive and poetic with the characters enteral monologues, which really slowed the pace of the book and got a little annoying at times. Overall it is a creative story line, I just felt like it could have been executed better.

    Story
    "Painful"
Would you try another book from Ally Condie and/or Jack Riccobono?

Probably not. I really liked the first book in the series and thought that the second was fine. But this was pretty bad--desperately needed an editor as it was much too long and needlessly so, as the extra description did little to further the story. There were so many great themes that I wished the author would explore (e.g., art during crises, revolutionaries becoming the same as the political entity that they are fighting) but she got far too bogged down in the love story. The love story itself is uninteresting as Cassia never wavers in her love, so the other character (trying to avoid spoilers--not that the end is suprising) just sort of hangs around and feels bad the entire time.

What could Ally Condie have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Shorten the pointless description. I do not need to be reminded of the same poems over and over again. Also, I realize that this is a teen love story, but focus on something beside feeling love over and over again.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The actor narrating Zander did a decent job. The others make the dialogue, already a little cheesy, almost unbearable. Count how many times Cassia says "Yes!" or how many syllables she drags out in "Ky!" As for Ky, he's breathy and whining--I actually groaned aloud every time he described his love for Cassia.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Boredom, mostly. A little bit of repulsion and embarrassment--teens describing their love for one another over and over and over and over...

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

    I really don't know......

What was most disappointing about Ally Condie’s story?

It could have been done in 2 books. The first book was the best and was very interesting. But the story went on way to long and it was just very hard to get through

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jack Riccobono?

I don't think that his narration was a bad job, it was the story.
