Publisher's summary

After the successful but disastrous raid on Mount Weather, Daemon's facing the impossible. Katy is gone. Taken. Everything becomes about finding her. Taking out anyone who stands in his way? Done. Burning down the whole world to save her? Gladly. Exposing his alien race to the world? With pleasure.

Surrounded by enemies, the only way Katy can come out of this is to adapt. After all, there are sides of Daedalus that don't seem entirely crazy, but the group's goals are frightening and the truths they speak even more disturbing. Who are the real bad guys? Daedalus? Mankind? Or the Luxen?

But the most dangerous foe has been there all along, and when the truths are exposed and the lies come crumbling down, which side will Daemon and Katy be standing on? And will they even be together?

Narrators

The male narrator makes it almost unlistenable. It’s difficult to distinguish who is who. The female narrator is fantastic. Otherwise, the story is action packed.

Daemon is mine!

This series is so fluffing good! I loved the characters bore that i can explain. They are so well developed. Jennifer has this way of extracting all the emotion from you that she can so that you feel wholly invested in the book. I . Loved . It. I have read the whole series and can tell you it is one of my faves. Keep going!

I ♥ Aliens

I’ve enjoyed all the books in this series but Origins is by far the best one yet.
After that gut-wrenching cliffhanger in Opal, I was a little hesitant to dive into this one. It’s a game changer for sure and will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. Without giving away too many details, this one felt like two stories in one. The first being Katy’s experience as a prisoner by Daedalus and the second the future of the Luxen race and the big reveal (the game changer). The dual POV was a nice addition to this series as well. I really enjoyed getting into Daemon’s head in this one. There’s another cliffhanger with Origins but thankfully it won’t rip your heart out like Opal did. I can’t wait to listen to the final installment of this fantastic series!

Love the story line

The characters are so tiresome at times with the “it’s my fault “ back and forth over and over.

I wanna be an Origin

So the Origins are some wicked, scary, cool.... No, wait, can't tell you. I know, I suck. So yeah Damien isn't about to just let Katy be in the hands of the enemy and face whatever comes alone. He has a plan.... it's crazy, it'll possibly be a trap but if it gets him to Katy then do be it. Daemon will find allies in unlikely places. And some things aren't what they seem. But maybe just maybe the bigger picture will be more than what he thought.

Don’t want it to end.

Not ready for the last book. I will be sad. But…I am ready to find out what happens. This story is super good. Empresses with the story line.

Yay for the return of Daemond’s POV

Yay! Finally Daemond’s POV was brought into this book. His character is so much better than Kat’s. Finally Kat did a little growing up & become a little less annoying.

I got a lot of questions answered in this novel! I understand what happens during capture, what actions are taken against the captives, etc.

Loved the drama, action, suspense, & the final cliff hanger!!!

Great addition to the series! :D

5 stars

Wow...this was a great addition to the series! I loved Katy and Daemon in this story. Katy is taken captive by a government agency that deal with (aka experiments on) aliens and the hybrids that the Luxen can make from humans. Daemon puts himself in a bad situations and at great personal risk to be with Katy and they find out a lot but it's hard to tell what's the truth and what's lies when it seems like everyone is so sincere while double crossing you.

After a lot of pain and drama, Katy & Daemon are reunited with their friends/family. They're able to escape the gov but the fight brings their race firmly "out" to the public. The story ends with a major cliffy as an invasion force of thousands in Luxen land of planet Earth and seem to have control over the Luxen already there. I can't wait to see what happens next!

I enjoyed this story immensely! Daemon and Katy are so good together in this book. They go through so much and I can only hope that they'll eventually get their HEA. This story had a good amount of action and suspense in it as well so it kept me well engaged. I'd recommend this story/series. :D

* note - There were 2 narrators, a female for the parts from Katy's PoV and a male for the parts from Daemon's PoV. They both did good jobs.

Good story, Narration could have been different

This is of course book four and was good. They added a guy to narrate for the male lead, but the way the book is narrated kind of messes up how you listen. with each person reading each chapter all the way through it is hard to change gears and put the voice with each character. If you are going to have more than one person narrate a story, then they need to stick to a set of characters and roll through the whole book. Otherwise the book was good. Because each narrator reads the leads characters different, it was almost like you had two lead characters that were kind of bipolar. Again hard to change gears chapter to chapter.

Action packed and sad

I’m gradually making my way through these. I had to stop for a while because I had to read ACTUAL academic type books 🙄but I jumped back in with both feet with Origin. As usual Justine Eyre’s performance leaves much to be desired, but 1.25-1.50 speed works well for both Eyre and Shapiro. As for the story, I’m wow, at least in this one. I’m not even bored and can’t wait to move onto the next one. I won’t let loose any details, but dang!
