Critic reviews

"New Moon will more than feed the bloodthirsty hankerings of fans of the first volume and leave them breathless for the third." (School Library Journal)

"Bella's dismay at being ordinary (after all, she's only human) will strike a chord even among girls who have no desire to be immortal, and like the vampires who watch Bella bleed with 'fevered eyes', teens will relish this new adventure and hunger for more." (Booklist)

Featured Article: The Vampire Diaries Character Guide

The Vampire Diaries is a sweeping saga that revolves around Elena Gilbert, a young mortal woman living in the small town of Fells Church, Virginia, and Damon and Stefan Salvatore, vampire brothers who are vying for her affections. Forces of good and evil play out across the town as nearly everyone they know becomes wrapped up in paranormal intrigue, especially when old enemies and ancient forces come to visit. Spanning 13 novels written over 20 years, the series has inspired a long-running television adaptation and unofficial spin-offs. Needless to say, there’s a lot of characters to keep track of.

Narrator bombs

One of the worst narrators ever. God, she totally ruins the books.

The author needs to re-produce with someone talented. Such as Tatiana Maslany, Caitlin Davies, Julia Whelan, or Therese Plummer. And kill off Edward Cullen while she’s at it…Still team Jacob.

Not a fan of the narrator

So while her reading was very good, the tonal quality of the narrator’s voice sounds almost elderly and that doesn’t really fit Bella’s character since she’s a teenager.

The Volturi

I'm not going to lie, I went through this entire story waiting for The Volturi to show up.

The Volturi are definitely my strongest interest in the series and I loved every second Bella was in Volterra.

I also really loved Jacob pretransformation, but after he becomes a wolf his attraction goes downhill severely. He is so cringe after he shifts. I wish SMeyer would've written him a bit differently.

It’s definitely a typical live story lol

Firstly I loved this series as a teen and now rereading it Im realizing how unhealthy of a relationship Bella has with Edward. Maybe that’s point? I’m not sure yet. Gotta get through the series again. I get it that they’re in love and whatnot and I still am enjoying the journey but oh my gosh is it a wild time with all the red flags.

Great book

It was a great book and I hate the fact that you make me write so many words my review should be mine in how ever many words I like even if it’s only one word

The unfortunate engrossment of this story.

This story is still silly and sometimes cringy, but overall I liked this one more the 1st book, and would read again. Although the pacing was better it still fell short for me at points, and the characters talk like they just finished human training camp.
